Grooveology 016 | Will Sonic

Selected Timbres is back once more with another amazing mix from one of my favorites in the game. I've known Dave Platts for around 4 years now through our time together on The Underground Sessions Radio. My respect and admiration for Dave spans very far and deep as he's label boss for Moment Cinetique, and a genuinely great guy. Moment Cinetique is known for being home to deep, jazzy disco tunes from the likes of Intr0beatz, Cassettes for Kids, and Never Dull.  

One thing I really respect about Dave is his demeanor and approach to music. He truly treats it like a passion, and does things with intention and it comes from a place of true appreciation. Never rushing to put things out just to try and stay relevant, but always taking care and time to source the right artists.

Aside from his curation skills showcased in Moment Cinetique, I've always loved tuning in to a mix from Dave when I found the time. Carve out an hour to check this one out as you get ready for a night out, or while your cooking, or doing literally anything.. its just a nice collection of music to enjoy.

IMMERSIF - OTR PODCAST GUEST #141 (France)

McG @conor-mcginnis started selecting almost a decade ago on university radio at WSUM 91.7 FM Madison, then a few years later for @sutrofm in San Fransisco. The Spinzone became a weekly show dedicated to sharing record shop finds -- its early beginnings were mostly jazz-dominated then eventually took a plunge into the deep house and disco realms.

While residing in Madison, McG joined the JAMS crew to throw parties at Robinia Courtyard, opening for artists like Jkriv, Seb Wildblood, Peter Croce, Jeff Swiff, Christian James... Fast forward to now he's back in the heart of Minneapolis. McG recently formed "The Excavators": a DJ duo with fellow selector @qjmpls. The Excavators now host a newer series called Wax Appeal: a vinyl-focused party in MPLS showcasing the mixing craft and dance records rarely heard in the area.

Grateful for @thecollectivegroove the invitation. This set is a mash of tunes being bumped at the moment. Some older re-rinses, some much newer... all artists that have had consistently epic releases. Hope you enjoy the ride.

DJ since the late 1990s, she has made a name for herself through her activism on behalf of electronic music in the South of France. Passionate about vinyl, she plays exclusively on this medium. In the mid-2000s, she was part of the Soulbag Crew adventure with the Nîmes DJ collective and vinyl boutique Soulbag Records. She also joined Radio Raje to present the DeepHouse and underground Techno show “Deep'In Rhythm” with Seb Samoo. As guest on Léa Lisa's show “Noboundaries” on Universal Rhythms UK, on the Youtube channel Mon Bon Sillon, and more recently on twitch with Cosmo Pat's “The French Quarter” or with Ten Figerz for Djoon Radio, she regularly plays live, as on her Twitch channel entitled “Voyage sur la Lune”. Introducing Damián Hernán, also known as ON THE REG: a DJ, producer, and event organizer with over 15 years of experience in the music scene. His eclectic sessions span from Chicago House, Deep, Funk, Disco, Italian Dream House, and more. As the founder of OTR, an event production company in the Buenos Aires underground scene, he's responsible for the renowned OTR PODCAST on SoundCloud, featuring over 150 mixes from international DJs like MARK FARINA, PHIL WEEKS, and KAPOTE from Toy Tonics, among others. He has successfully curated event series like MAGIC JOURNEY at Niceto Club and The Shamrock. His productions have been released on labels such as Mole Records, Boite Records, Groovy Riddim, as well as on his own label, On The Reg, available on Bandcamp.
