PREMIERE: Unhuman & Vulkanski - Mescaline Network [KHIDI]

Flaminia & VSK deliver three tracks of nimble and nuanced techno.

On the latest installment from Tommy Four Seven's revitalized 47 imprint, artists Flaminia and VSK join forces for the first time in a highly dynamic three-track EP, fusing searing sound design and impeccable production with haunting vocal hooks.

"Elysian" opens the release with peak-time energy that opts for textural depth over sheer intensity. Its magnetic center is a piledriving four-to-the-floor kick and finely chiseled percussion set to the backdrop of Flaminia's whisper. Her voice takes the lead on the B-side, becoming the clipped and chorus-like refrain on "Carpe Noctem"—a gnarled broken beat punctuated by distortion and psychedelic riffs. 47032 closes with "Tenebra," a breakneck drum & bass-indebted cut that combines gated synths with Flaminia's breathy vocals for a minimally constructed yet highly addictive dance track.

Human Traffic is designed in a narrative way," says NƵM 99. "I wanted to tell a story. This is what we are missing today, I think — the identity and the message. So let's stop the 'Human Traffic' present on social networks. These networks occupy far too much space in relation to music. Let's leave more room for the music, and the stage will be even more beautiful."

'Poison of Angels' opens the EP, chopping between crisp percussion and a searing lead melody, fusing EBM with industrial aesthetics as per NƵM 99's signature. On 'Human Traffic', the producer conjures a menacing atmosphere, layering a misty soundscape with bone-chilling vocals stitched between a spiky synthline. Staccato claps collide with belligerent drums on 'Noisy Futures', culminating in a blaze of bolshy haze. 'Drone' blends jagged snares with eerie pads, plunging into fierce, peak-time cut, rounding off NƵM 99's productions a potent note.

Berlin-based Italian producer, DJ, and live artist Ireen Amnes adds a moody sheen to her remix of 'Poison of Angels' through sleek drums and a bleeped-out melody. Belgium's Radical G remixes 'Human Traffic', offering a slow-burning take of the original, complemented by shadowy EBM elements. Co-founder of Fleisch Records, HALV DRØM wraps up the release with his remix of 'Noisy Futur'. Here, the Australian artist creates an air of paranoia via an aerodynamic soundscape, stomping drums and a dash of noise. It's a cerebral end to a thrilling, esoteric collection on House of Reptile.

Away from idolatry and escapism, "HAUPTFORM" is the latest EP from the creative crucible of Brussels-based mutant project Ottoman Grüw. Marking his debut release on Umwelt’s imprint, the artist unfurls three scorched electro-techno anthems ready to ignite dancefloors and a cinematic ambient track. 

Across "HAUPTFORM", Ottoman Grüw showcases his ability to inject noise elements and EBM influences to expand listeners mind, while making bridges between old school electro, techno and modern industrial music. Step in, for the sake of body control!

The A side features the track “U (Control & Destroy)” which combines massive drum patterns and disorienting atmospheres with robotic vocals - all wrapped in a technoid frenzy. Following that, “Phantom Rhythmic” provides a highenergy blend of sassy irresistible electro and cold hypnotic synths.
But wait, there’s more: on the B side “Hauptform” takes you skirting the edges of unknown realms through intricated sequences. Finally, “Life Comes From Its Own Degradation” closes the curtain with a dark, ambient and cinematic lullaby, where abstract lifeforms collide— a delicate ballet of entropy. Is it birth or decay? Perhaps both.

His electrifying and skillful performances leave crowds spellbound. As the founder of Tjalk Records, a heartfelt tribute to the boat he resides on in Lyon, NZM 99’s numerous releases on esteemed labels like Persephonic Sirens, Khoinix, and Flesh Or Die have brought him to international stages, with recent shows in Poland, Germany, and Georgia. Inspired by legends such as Arnaud Rebotini, The Hacker, Terence Fixmer, and David Carretta, NZM 99’s passion for vintage synthesizers has been the driving force behind his artistic journey. It has been two years since the first compilation on the Various Artists series (PEVA) of Pi Electronics and the concept has stayed true to its aim: to present a coherent selection of the label’s favourite collaborators from the roster and parties over the years. Bringing together Greek and international artists, this compilation opens with a 10 minute recording by the combined forces of Orphx and JK Flesh (Justin Broadrick), from a live performance recorded in Amsterdam. Meanwhile we also showcase the resurfacing of Vofa, the joint project of producers Sawf and ANFS. There is a variety of options in this 13 tracks release; from the raw and harsh textures of An-i and New Frames, to Lycurgus live drum set recordings, Kondaktor’s African percussive electronics and Sarin’s EBM infused techno. Some more techno interpretations, such as the hypnotic moods of Stave and Fragedis, or the more punchy sounds of Restive Plaggona and Poison Green. These shape the full picture of this second Pi Electronics compilation titled ‘Divide & Rule’.
