Sixto Díaz Rodríguez (also known as Rodríguez or as Jesús Rodríguez; born July 10, 1942) is an American folk musician based in Detroit, Michigan. His career initially proved short lived, with two little-sold albums in the early 1970s and some brief touring in Australia. Unbeknownst to him, however, his work became extremely successful and influential in South Africa, although he was mistakenly rumored in that country to have committed suicide.
In the 1990s, determined South African fans managed to seek out and contact him, which led to an unexpected revival of his musical career. Their story is told in the 2012 Academy Award–winning documentary film, Searching for Sugar Man, which has also helped give Rodríguez a measure of fame in his native country.
On May 9, 2013, Rodríguez received an honorary doctorate, a Doctor of Humane Letters degree, from his alma mater, Wayne State University (WSU) in Detroit, Michigan, during WSU's 10 a.m. commencement ceremony.

Marbert Rocel formed in 2002 in a flat share in Erfurt, in the first floor of a shady establishment. It started off with DJ Malik, who was DJing rap and producing, and Panthera, who at this time was still washing his laundry at his parent's house. Together they built beats, and presented several radio shows at open radio channels in Weimar and Erfurt. These usually consisted of them introducing their two favorite songs from Chat Baker and Taktloss (german rap artist) with brittle voices. At this time Malik had a small Studio at Zughafen, Erfurt. In this colorful house they produced their first two albums: Speed Emotions (2007) and catch a bird (2009). And there they even get in contact witch Lotus Lumina, the guys, that doing the Lightshow for Marbert Rocel. Through interstellar destiny, Spunk eventually moved into the Zughafen. She recorded the vocals of her first Song in her pajamas - the harder they come.

»In 2007, we burnt a couple of songs onto a CD, attached it to a painted piece of wood, and sent it to Compost Records, our label. We try to make a lot things ourselves, or with the help of our friends. We like to use things that spontaneously come to hand. Our drums consist of a couch, a chest and a 1L wine glass. Our light show consists of old street lights from Leipzig, and we make our artwork ourselves, as well as our videos, mixes, etc…the only thing we have difficulty with is tying our shoe laces - that seems to be jinxed!
Last year Marbert Rocel played, produced, remixed, ate cake and, together with Mathias Kaden, they founded KAROCEL, as a special dance interlude for the Nachtdigital Festival. This turned out to be such a successful fusion, that KAROCEL now perform live as well, culminating in the need for concert goers to bring a spare T-Shirt. And between all that excitement Marbert Rocel looking out of the window, smoke and make music.

Patricia Louise Holte-Edwards (born May 24, 1944), better known under the stage name Patti LaBelle, is a renowned Grammy Award-winning American singer, author, and actress who has spent over 50 years in the music industry. LaBelle spent 16 years as lead singer of Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles, who changed their name to Labelle in the early 1970s and released the iconic disco song "Lady Marmalade".
LaBelle started her solo career shortly after the group disbanded in 1977 and crossed over to pop music with "On My Own", "If You Asked Me To", "Stir It Up", and "New Attitude". Luke Solomon has been a fundamental part of the dance scene for over a decade now and his contribution over the years has been nothing short of phenomenal. Now in 2007, his sound is still evolving and his bizarre take on the new underground house sound is very exciting, a master of the groove and never afraid of a risk, his latest productions are arguably his finest work to date. Luke began his professional DJ career in 1990 with a residency at Middlesex University, which is where he met cohort Justin Harris. After a spell working in a local record shop and as a part-time fishmonger he got a job at Freetown records, which led him to long lasting relationships with Rob Mello and Kenny Hawkes. Rob took Luke under his studio wing and taught him the ropes, together they went on to release for both Freetown and Prescription Underground – it was through Prescription that he got introduced to a certain Derrick L. Carter. A bond was immediately formed and through their passion for House music and crazy late nights they formed the legendary Classic Recordings. Luke also formed a recording partnership with Justin Harris and are the masterminds behind their band Freaks and their own label Music For Freaks, 3 studio albums followed. This year Luke and the band enjoyed a top ten hit with the re-release of their classic 'The Creeps' through DATA. As well as that Luke has been working on his own solo productions and has recently released singles through Crosstown Rebels, Gallery, Icon, Cajual and of course Rekids with whom he will be releasing his solo album 'The Difference Engine' in January 2008. He also has a monthly residency at AKA called Little Creatures and Moxa Club in Mantova, Italy. Luke Solomon’s new album “The Difference Engine” is to be released on Rekids in January 2008. They are currently touring showcases with a 5 piece band ,finding new fans in Switzerland and Holland to name a few. The Ministry of Sound are set to re release their club smash “the Creeps,” this is due for an August release. Luke has also been busy working on his own re-edits and productions. The consists of new singles for Crosstown Rebels and Rekids. He has also been busy producing for artists such as Damian Lazarus, Jonny Rock and Jon Marsh and the leads us to the most current , his solo album, the Difference Engine. He continues to DJ worldwide, currently holding residencies @ the AKA , London, Café Borsa in Mantova, Italy, and most recently, Manumission in Ibiza, where he will be performing at 5 gigs over the summer season.

Solomun - Kackvogel
Solomun (born as Mladen Solomun 1975 in Bosnia and Herzegovina) and raised in Hamburg, is a Bosnian DJ of House and Dance music.
Solomun started his DJ in 2002 and has been an active music producer since 2005. His first EP on Diynamic, Solomun EP, came out in 2006. Since then, he released many other Eps, compilations, as well as one album in 2009 called Dance Baby. Solomun, with his partner Adriano Trolio, created his own record label in 2006 called Diynamic. In 2011, a second label has been launched, 2DIY4, as an experimental record label.
He owns the Hamburg based club Ego, co-run by his sister and Adriano Trolio, figuring among the best underground clubs in Germany.
Solomun gets his inspiration from many different kinds of genres such as R&B, Funk, Soul, Hip hop, Disco or 80s music. His sound can be described as "house music, but with deep, ultra funky basslines, euphoric melodies and emotionally charged vocals".
His success really emerged with his remix Around (Noir & Haze), elected Remix of the Year 2011 by Resident Advisor, that broke through the DJs' planet.
2012 was an exciting and tremendous year for Solomun. Awarded as DJ of the Year by Mixmag, Producer of the Year by the DJ Awards in Ibiza, but also Best DJ International by the Cool Awards in Brazil.
With the Diynamic Neon Nights Events at Sankeys Ibiza, Solomun brought novelties on the underground scene and flabbergasted the partiers with his groovy and sexy sound. As he says in an interview on Ibiza Spotlight: "People have emotions. So why not on a dancefloor?"[5]
Solomun will kick off Ibiza 2013 season presiding Burn Studios Residency bootcamp.

Genesis are an English rock band that formed in 1967. The band currently consists of its three longest-tenured members - Tony Banks (keyboards) and Mike Rutherford (bass, guitar), who were founder members; and Phil Collins (vocals, drums), who first joined in 1970. Past members Peter Gabriel (vocals, flute), Steve Hackett (guitar) and Anthony Phillips (guitar), also played major roles in the band in its early years. Genesis are among the top 30 highest-selling recording artists of all time, with approximately 150 million albums sold worldwide.[1]
In the late 1960s, with the release of their first album, Genesis's music was initially regarded by the band and the fans as a pop experiment, referring to then-popular melodic pop.[2] Then, over the course of a year, (beginning with their second album in mid-1970) they quickly evolved into a progressive rock band with the incorporation of complex song structures and elaborate instrumentation. Their concerts became theatrical experiences with innovative stage design, pyrotechnics, extravagant costumes and on-stage stories. This second phase was characterised by lengthy performances such as the 23-minute "Supper's Ready" and the 1974 concept album, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. In the late '70s and early '80s the band's musical direction changed once again, becoming more pop oriented and commercially accessible. This resulted in their first top 40 single in the US with "Follow You Follow Me", their first number one album in the United Kingdom, Duke, and their only number one single in the United States, "Invisible Touch".
Genesis has undergone several personnel changes throughout its history. Stage fright forced founding member Anthony Phillips to leave the band in 1970. In 1975, Collins, then the band's drummer, replaced Peter Gabriel as lead singer after a lengthy search for a replacement. To facilitate Collins's move to lead vocals during concerts, Bill Bruford and Chester Thompson played drums for the band as they toured, with Collins joining in briefly during lengthy instrumental passages. In 1977, guitarist Steve Hackett left the band. After Phil Collins left the band in 1996, Genesis recruited Ray Wilson (formerly of Stiltskin). Wilson appeared on the 1997 album Calling All Stations, after which the band announced an indefinite hiatus. In 2007, Banks, Collins and Rutherford reunited for a 20-city tour of Europe and North America, which included a free concert at Rome's Circo Massimo in front of 500,000 fans. Genesis were among five bands inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. The future of the band remains uncertain with Collins's retirement from the music business and the other members' solo work.

De La Soul is an American hip hop trio formed in 1987 on Long Island, New York.[2] The band is best known for their eclectic sampling, quirky lyrics, and their contributions to the evolution of the jazz rap and alternative hip hop subgenres. The members are Kelvin Mercer, David Jude Jolicoeur and Vincent Mason, known under a variety of nicknames. The three formed the group in high school and caught the attention of producer Prince Paul with a demo tape of the song "Plug Tunin'".

With its playful wordplay, innovative sampling, and witty skits, the band's debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, is considered a hip hop masterpiece.[3] It is the band's biggest commercial success to date, with their subsequent albums selling progressively less, despite receiving high praise from critics. A measure of 3 Feet High and Rising's cross-over appeal was the fact that it was voted Album of the Year by NME, a title better known for its taste in guitar-based music. De La Soul have influenced numerous other hip hop artists such as Camp Lo, The Black Eyed Peas, and Digable Planets.[citation needed] They were influential in the early stages of rapper/actor Mos Def's career, and are a core part of the Spitkicker collective. They are the second longest standing Native Tongues Posse group, after the Jungle Brothers.

The four instrumentalists of Poni Hoax met in the Conservatoire Nationale de Musique in Paris. After graduating, they formed Poni Hoax with Nicholas Ker who they met in a local bar. Poni Hoax first drew attention in 2006 with its debut self-titled album, produced by Joakim on his label Tigersushi. The record surprised people with its electro-rock sounds and quickly asserted fame for the band in France and abroad. The album includes the singles "She's on the Radio" and "Budapest". Budapest ranked in the "Top 100" of Pitchfork in 2006, and became a smash hit in clubs all over Europe. Poni Hoax has been remixed many times by DJ's worldwide. The band said that the album was slightly rushed for vocals due to lack of experience. The album cover features a nude woman with an owl, which was censored for one iTunes release by darkening the original photograph. Despite the success of Budapest, the album flopped on sales, producing little to support the band.
The power of their electro sound comes from the unique dual keyboards, played by Arnaud Roulin and Laurent Bardainne. Nicolas Villebrun on guitar, and Vincent Taeger on drums and percussion provide a more traditional pop-rock rhythmic that makes the songs enchanting and powerful. On vocals, Nicolas Ker maintains a raw and cavernous voice, producing the heady melodies of Poni Hoax. The band has listed The Doors and The Rolling Stones as the only influences the entire band enjoys listening to.
Still evolving from their rock and disco sound, Poni Hoax released a more successful album in 2008: Images Of Sigrid. Some compared the electro energy of Daft Punk, a few notes of Bowie, and Ian Curtis to the voice of Nicolas Ker (to whom he takes strong influence from), plus a dash of David Byrne-esque funk in the instrumentation. "Faces In The Water," the 13-minute conclusion to the album, received mixed consumer reviews from places like iTunes and Amazon, some considering it boring and unnecessary, and some considering it a breath of fresh air. The slower and softer tunes evoke Nick Cave, and the album undergoes all the influences of the band. The album's concept revolves around Sigrid, a "presence" who is always in concerts and dance halls, and always in a good mood. The band has stated that they tried to maintain that light air while recording the second album. Also, they found the recording process went much smoother than on their first album because they had more experience.

The single "Antibodies" quickly became a radio hit and the controversial music video clip directed by Danakil received an award. It recently appeared in the video game Rock Band 3, getting popularity for the band from english-speaking audiences. From 2008 to 2010, the band played in major cities across the globe (New York, Montreal, London, Oslo, Moscow, Toronto), including a sold out concert in Paris and the opening for Franz Ferdinand in London.

We Are The Bankers, a new single, came out in 2010 on Abracadabra Records. The band broke away from Tigersushi because they didn't think it fit their "sound".
The band has announced that a new album, A State Of War, will come out in February of 2013. They wanted it to have a false sense of happiness, with extremely dark lyrics and undertones. It will be signed to Pan European Recording instead of Abracadabra records.

George Benson (born March 22, 1943)[3] is a ten time Grammy Award winning African-American musician, whose production career began at the age of twenty-one as a jazz guitarist. Despite returning to his jazz and guitar playing most recently, this theme was reflected again much later in Benson's 2000 release Absolute Benson featuring a cover of one of Hathaway's most notable songs, The Ghetto.

Kalabrese is one of the more glittering characters in Zurichs music scene and mingling at the frontline as dj, producer and as club owner. Through his very own style as a producer he caused a stir outside of Switzerland. Kalabrese Debut Album "Rumpelzirkus"is a great piece of music. It rumbles and works the funk organically and song oriented and recevied good reviews in the independent dance-scene all around the world. For the last two years, Kalabrese and his Rumpelorchestra toured through clubs and festivals (e.g. Sonar 08 and Mutek 07, transmediale berlin, electrowave florence, bukarest) all around the world. At the moment, Kalabrese focusse in the album production and is on the road for some dj gigs. He did some remixes for artists and labels like; tosca, crosstown rebels, dOP, drumpoet community, filewhile, luke solomon and the excellent "elleli" witch was licensed for the famous house label innervision and found his way in many many dj-cases and charts.

"Pick Up the Pieces" is a 1974 song by the Average White Band from their second album, AWB. The principal composer of the track was founding member and saxophonist Roger Ball. It was the group's most successful song, and features one of the most recognizable grooves in funk music. It is essentially an instrumental, apart from the song's title being shouted at several points in the song. sample (help·info) The song features an intro 4 measures of Csus7#9, sus 4 (C F Bb Eb) afterwards in the theme 8 measures of Fm7 (F Ab C Eb), 2 measures of Bb7 (Bb D F Ab), 4 measures of Fm7. "Pick Up the Pieces" was released in the United Kingdom in July 1974 but failed to make an impression. When the album was released in the United States in October 1974, radio stations started to pick up on the song, and on 22 February 1975, it went to the top of the US singles chart and peaked at number five on the soul charts.[1] After its US success, the song charted in the UK and climbed to number six. "Pick Up the Pieces" also made it to number eleven on the US disco chart.[2]

Kalabrese is one of the more glittering characters in Zurichs music scene and mingling at the frontline as dj, producer and as club owner. Through his very own style as a producer he caused a stir outside of Switzerland. Kalabrese Debut Album "Rumpelzirkus"is a great piece of music. It rumbles and works the funk organically and song oriented and recevied good reviews in the independent dance-scene all around the world. For the last two years, Kalabrese and his Rumpelorchestra toured through clubs and festivals (e.g. Sonar 08 and Mutek 07, transmediale berlin, electrowave florence, bukarest) all around the world. At the moment, Kalabrese focusse in the album production and is on the road for some dj gigs. He did some remixes for artists and labels like; tosca, crosstown rebels, dOP, drumpoet community, filewhile, luke solomon and the excellent "elleli" witch was licensed for the famous house label innervision and found his way in many many dj-cases and charts.

Dubshape aka Ale Reis and Joao Lee are two old time DJs, producers and friends from the Brazilian house scene. Each had a different music background but from a few years ago to the present days have found each other..s taste getting very similar. That plus their passion for studio led them to start producing together.
Inspite producing together Joao and Ale have always trailed separate DJ careers. As DJs they represent the deep and tech house scene in Brazil. Playing at clubs like Warung and D-Edge, where they have their current Dubshape residency in Sao Paulo, making warm-ups to DJs like Steve Bug, Gui Boratto, Phonique, Booka Shade, DJ T, Francois Dubois...
With influences from old school house and deep house together with a blend of tech textures, their production caught the attention of labels such as 8Bit Records, Kompakt Records and Supernature Records.

Yuksek (Pierre-Alexandre Busson) is a French electronic music producer, remixer and DJ born in 1977, native of Reims, France. After playing the piano for ten years at a conservatoire, he took part in several bands such as Klanguage, whose first album was released in 2007. He created his first tracks as Yuksek in 2006 and then started to perform successfully as a DJ all over the world. Change was an Italian-American post-disco group formed in Bologna, Italy in 1979 by businessman and executive producer Jacques Fred Petrus (1949--1986) and Mauro Malavasi (1957). They were heavily influenced by legendary disco band Chic.
Change was initially formed in 1979 as a studio-band with a revolving cast of musicians, led by businessman and executive producer Jacques Fred Petrus, with the majority of song-writing and production carried out by Mauro Malavasi and Davide Romani. Deadmau5 produces a variety of styles with the house genre, or other forms of electronic dance music. His tracks have been included in compilation albums such as In Search of Sunrise 6: Ibiza, MixMag's Tech-Trance-Electro-Madness (mixed by Zimmerman), and on Armin van Buuren's A State of Trance radio show. Herbert Jeffrey "Herbie" Hancock (born April 12, 1940) is an American pianist, keyboardist, bandleader and composer.[1] As part of Miles Davis's Second Great Quintet, Hancock helped to redefine the role of a jazz rhythm section and was one of the primary architects of the "post-bop" sound. He was one of the first jazz musicians to embrace music synthesizers and funk music (characterized by syncopated drum beats). Jaar was born in New York on January 10, 1990 to Alfredo Jaar and Evelyne Maynard and moved to his father’s native Chile when he was two. He and his family lived there for six years before moving back to New York.[1] Jaar met Soul Keita and Nikita Quasim on a school trip through the Sonora desert in Mexico. The three bonded over music and began swapping beats and projects online. In 2009, Jaar started Clown & Sunset as a way to legitimize their music.
Jaar’s music[2] is ruminative and emotional (he calls it “blue-wave”), drawing inspiration from fellow-Chilean Ricardo Villalobos and minimal techno. David Shaw
Born and raised in Manchester, David Shaw is today based in France. His cultural duality has had a profound influence on his music, and allowed him to create an original identity somewhere between techno and indie, he, who never wanted to choose between guitars and machines.
As producer, writer/composer and performer, he has distinguished himself on the independent scene through various projects such as his own : Siskid (Initial Cuts, Meant Records), Animal Machine (Meant Records) and collaborations : Blackstrobe with Arnaud Rebotini and Ivan Smagghe (Beggars Banquet).
He has now moved on with his new project, David Shaw and The Beat, and after two singles, "Infected" and "The Jackal", he will be releasing his debut album "So It Goes" in October on Her Majesty's Ship.
