@anethamusic's first decade in dance music has been impressive indeed. Much of it is now on her own terms, too - she runs the Mama Told Ya label and agency where she drops her own glorious mix of techno, EBM and trance as well as platforming emerging artists. She is a resident DJ at Amsterdam's epic Awakenings as well as Le Sucre in her native France and Fuse in Brussels. Her "less is more" but always colourful and emotional take on techno is inspired by the fact she is a qualified architect and it is embodied in the title of her recent "Rules Are Meant to Be Broken EP" in collaboration with Ryan James Ford. 

Anetha's DJ dexterity is on full show in this week's 90-minute mix as she works through many different shades of high-tempo club music. There are passages of youthful and raved-up sounds, stripped-back warehouse rhythms and firing machine music. There are hints of everything from trance to gabber to EBM helping to add character to each track and it's that which makes this such a compelling listen from a new school star.

Monochrome presents, 𝖍𝖎𝖛𝖊𝖗 𝖑𝖑𝖑 : Diapasøn, CWR/Résilience.

This winter, Monochrome is offering each month to one or several artists to discover their influences and inspirations through a forty-five minute to two hour recording. These three recordings will focus on percussive rhythms between Ambient, Deep Techno and Drum & Bass.

Artist biography :
Diapasøn became interested in music and its instrumental practice at an early age. Since 2012, he has devoted himself fully to electronic music, a way for him to express his passion for current influences. In 2017, he created the Lyon-based label CWR, where he manages the artistic direction and programming. In love with vinyl, his sound universe swims between ambient and psychedelic techno.

BIO:
The Paris based artist dc11 got into making music via modular synthesisers and to this day they are his tool of choice in the studio as well as in clubs. Gravitating towards the loopy side of techno, his live sets always leave a big part to improvisation. Finding ways to slightly shift loops and grooves hasn’t lost its appeal yet.

Minù Jr ☉ Ouroboros Festival 2024

For our twenty sixth installment we’ve invited Minù Jr, a DJ and producer based in France. He describes himself a as multifaceted project in constant evolution, always in search of new influences.

His music stands out with a hypnotic universe that blends deep techno pulses with sound experiments, creating an immersive atmosphere during his sets.

Last year, he joined the roster of the Lyon-based collective/label Monochrome, releasing an EP titled Qabam — four tracks of synthetic drum’n’bass tinged with dub.

Lately, he has been exploring live performance alongside another producer in the same genre, Tampo.

Some words about this mix:
“In this mix, I've embraced a slower tempo, which has been captivating me lately. Tracks with lower BPMs have become increasingly appealing, and I've been producing quite a few of them recently. They play a key role in my live set with my friend Tampo.

This podcast maintains a steady pace at 120 BPM, featuring tracks from artists I've been listening to for a while, along with some new discoveries.
I hope you enjoy this humble journey.”

Closing set at Organik Festival 2019 in Hualien, Taiwan. Last 1,5 hours was a b2b with Diskonnected. 

Picture this: A slow steep drive down through a narrow jungle path, 
the sound of distant ocean waves, frogs, and insects is all you hear until suddenly the jungle opens up and you've arrived at Organik Festival.

Located on a secluded beach on the Taiwan east coast facing the seemingly infinite Pacific with awesome mountain rocks and jungle kneeling to it. A beast of a brand new model Funktion One sound system tuned to perfection and a rare gathering of the most loving and kind people you can imagine. 

This is the spirit of Organik. Nature, quality, peace, and a big coherent mix of dreamy techno, ambient, experimental, house, and disco. Personally have I never experienced a better festival. Was such a pleasure and honour to close the festival on a late Sunday night playing after Dorisburg. I got around different styles and wanted to play a non linear set and instead take people on a journey. I hope you feel some of the festival vibe in the recording.

The last hour and a half my friend and Smoke Machine Taiwan resident joined me in a b2b showing a rare housy side of his palette.
