Long before Cosmic JD took his place behind his bank of hardware at our OFF The Record party last year we have been admiring the Canadian based artist’s style. Originally hailing from Colombia he has since made Toronto his home and the underground scene there has benefitted widely because of it. His Hypnotic Mindscapes collective have been responsible for bringing unheard of bookings to the Canadian hub city, you will be glad to know that this ethos of breaking new music styles and sounds is in no way confined to his events. 

For a prime example of this a quick glance at his touring and release schedule will tell you what you need to know. Being an integral part of the seekers family is not a moniker that is easily attained and he can usually be found at the center of this fabled outfit. Again, this is not the be all and end all of Cosmic JD either as his studio output see’s him covering all manner of ground that includes Binary Sound and his own Hypnotic Mindscapes imprint.

Cosmic JD is an insanely talented live artist and can normally be found in control of his trusty MPC (amongst other assorted kit) and as a result the dance floor, but this time around it is his finely curated record collection that his the focal point of our next InSession recording. With a penchant for the electro side of house and techno it is a fair comment that this mix is packed full of energy, but it is the nuanced moments in between the peak time scenes that Cosmic JD really shines. It is clear to see why he is a regular at the finest parties around the world and if you are not familiar, make sure you get well acquainted.
