Bajo estas máximas, Montero ha captado la atención de la escena de la música electrónica y ha llevado sus discos a países como Reino Unido, Portugal, España y Ucrania, entre otros lugares de moda. Su devoción por la música es infinita, alimentada por la búsqueda en las tiendas de discos locales de Berlín, una ciudad que ha allanado el camino para cumplir sus sueños y ha albergado sus sets en la mayoría de sus mejores e infames clubes como Tresor.

Aquellos que lo vean actuar no solo notarán la diversidad en su selección de pistas, que cambia constantemente entre diferentes subgéneros de música electrónica, sino también su capacidad para leer a la multitud, tocando no solo lo que la gente quiere, sino lo que necesita. Su comprensión de cómo adaptar su música al entorno es lo que marca la diferencia, una habilidad que distingue a muchos disc-jockeys.
Aparte de pinchar, Montero se encuentra en la organización de noches de club de calidad en Berlín a través de su serie Gaex, la cual presentó a algunos de los mejores DJs de la escena.

En 2022 surgió un nuevo proyecto en lo más profundo del norte de Portugal, Basilar. Será una experiencia techno íntima con artistas underground de verdad. Juan ha estado organizando el line up del fin de semana y es parte de un gran equipo de entusiastas del techno.

This month I am guesting Sancta Sanctorum, producer and DJ based in Italy.
Sancta Sanctorum is a techno DJ and producer known for his raw fast paced sounds. He collaborates with küetzal in a duo project Kernic and is a resident DJ for Turin’s techno night Genau, one of the most prominent techno events in Italy. Together, they co-run Sticky Ground, a label where they continue to push the boundaries of hard techno music.
Besides his own imprint, he has released on Dahryl&#39;s Melt Trax and Home Mort and has gained the support of SPFDJ, VTSS and Wallis. I am looking forward to his forthcoming EP on my OUT OF CTRL label so keep an eye out for this one.

Holding down residencies at Wire Club and the monthly queer night Love Muscle, Kessie has carved out a groove within the North's vibrant dance music community - one that shows no sign of slowing down. This Summer alone has taken her even further afar with festival & club bookings from across Europe, and Kessie can be heard in the our halls for the first time in our upcoming celebration of 10 years of Monnom Black. 

Kessie has recorded an exclusive mix for our DETECT series, where she indulges in the tougher, grittier corners of her music collection, drawing from techno, EBM, post punk and grunge influences.

Artist bio:

Alan Comber aka Gram Negative is a 30+ year veteran DJ based in Doncaster, UK.
He began DJing in 1990 playing early house, detroit and UK techno and soon progressed to the techno and hardcore scenes of the early to mid 90s.
After various stints drum & bass and tribal/tech house around the turn of the millenium, he went into working hiatus in 2007. Eventually returned to his first love of techno during lockdown in 2020, he is currently operating as the presenter and showrunner of Germ Theory on Sine FM 102.6, a regular radio show and podcast series bringing the best in new and forthcoming raw, dark and hypnotic techno featuring top quality guest DJs from around the world.

Set the Mood with MACRO!

For the 50th edition of the Set the Mood series, we welcome a Utrecht-based guest: MACRO. As a DJ who understands the subtle power of the warm-up slot, MACRO believes that a proper opening set is more than just a buildup—it's an invitation. For him, it's about crafting a hypnotic journey that sets the foundation for the night ahead.

In his own words:

“I believe that a proper opening set is all about gradually pulling the crowd into a groove-driven trance that sets the tone for the night ahead. This mix starts deep and textured, layering rich percussive elements to disorient the senses in just the right way. From there, I slowly build the rhythm, keeping the BPM low but energy simmering, making sure a story is told. This way I maintain my style of hypnotic, unpredictable, and irresistibly danceable grooves.”

Hailing from Utrecht, MACRO is a DJ and producer who draws deep inspiration from the dancefloor. His sound blends energetic grooves with obscure, hypnotic textures, designed to keep his sets pulsing from start to finish. Always in search of tracks that challenge expectations, MACRO remains focused on one mission: to keep hearts pounding and feet moving until the very last beat.

Lindsey Wang, also known as Polygonia, is a versatile art and music project based in Munich, Germany. Her preceding intensive and long practice playing several instruments as well as the experiences with other art forms, inspired the artist to translate her understanding of rhythm, composition and experimentalism into the digital musical language. She creates mystic, deep and experimental soundscapes with acoustic elements in it.
Together with Dycide and MTRL she founded the Ambient and DeepTechno Label IO.
