Premiere: Betoko 'Dance On My Feet'

Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

The heavy hitting four track EP shines a light on Sangiuliano’s tight, thundering production skills. The hoover heavy lead track ‘Moon Rocks’ is packed with booming percussion, intricate synths and brooding crescendos. The EP encapsulates Sangiuliano’s wide spectrum of sounds ranging from the fat bass line of ‘Moon Rocks’ to the more delicate harmonies shown within the ‘Dutch Kiss’ mixes whilst ‘Ghettoblaster’ sits somewhere in between.

Anetha - Leftover Love EP 

The French techno party thrower is proud to present its new label called Blocaus Series. The first release is produced by their talented resident Anetha, real icon of the Blocaus crew. The EP consists of three driving, hypnotic and banging tracks inspired by 90s rave cuts. The Dutch artist Stranger contributes a massive remix, making the whole EP hyper effective and catchy. From the trippy and hypnotic Interstellar and Towards Infinity on the A-side, to the straight banging up Leftlover Love and Stranger's remix on the B-side, this debut release is just an incipient illustration of what can be expected from this young and promising label.

Axel Picodot hits hard with « No Future », his first full album made of 11 tracks. This is a homemade production, in his very own label built with Ruben Hassid and Nico Moreno. This one year old structure signed the names of tomorrow’s industrial techno, such as Paramod, Tim Tama or Haedes. 
At first sight, the album seems purely violent. Industrial techno cares the illusion of creating a disorder, chaos out of music. That’s why death is omnipresent in Axel’s works, reminding we’re all damned to die anyway. 
However, the message wants to be clear: industrial techno puts us in a timeless environment, escaping from the future. As night walkers, we silently cross the warehouse, eager to dance. Be obsessed by the present, abandon your future.

The Radiant City

I’ve been testing this track out on the road for the better part of 12 months, tweaking the moments until I felt it had just the right amount of dance floor appeal. It’s been so exciting to watch people connect with it right in front of me. I wrote the hook after wrapping up a club show at Audio in San Francisco back in June 2018. The crowd was really gravitating towards sustained, rolling grooves that night, so when I got back to the hotel I really felt the need to make one that was just for them. The speech in the breakdown is a sample of a local San Franciscan dance legend who I’ve respected for a long time, and I felt it was just too perfect to let the track out into the world without it.
