Early life
Growing up with both parents in his household in the Country Club Crest neighborhood in Vallejo, California, Diggs eventually developed an interest in hip hop.

He grew up listening to the likes of Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five and later Run-DMC, LL Cool J & Too Short. He knew hip hop was where his heart was after having started rap groups and winning talent shows such as the Bay Area Music Awards in 1987 at the age of 16[2] while appearing on local television stations around the San Francisco Bay Area.

Prison
At the youthful age of 19, Jamal along with two friends (Mac Dre & Kilo Curt) were arrested in Fresno, California for conspiracy to rob a bank. Because of his involvement in the offense, J-Diggs received a stiff penalty of 10 years while Mac Dre & Kilo Curt got five and eight years respectively.

J-Diggs began his leave in a federal prison in southern California named Terminal Island, where he received much respect and notoriety in prison as a warrior and even more as a rapper. In 1995, Diggs was shipped out for his leading role in a violent prison riot that left prisoners and officials in prison injured during their "Diesel Therapy" (solitary confinement & surprise jail bills from the authorities). Diggs kept all of his steps while bouncing back and forth across the United States to Federal facilities in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Lompoc, California, Raybrook, New York, El Reno, Oklahoma, Fairington, New Jersey, Allenwood, McKean & Schuylkill, Pennsylvania.

Life After Incarceration[edit]
After his incarceration, the trio were out to make the unfinished business of creating one of the world's most powerful and respected independent record labels, Thizz Entertainment. Diggs has appeared on numerous television programs on DVD discs, such as the BET shows Oh Drama, Rickey Lake and the 2009 highly received rating television series American Gangster.[3] He has also appeared on Hood to Hood, Exhibition of Speed 23109, Too Real for TV #3, Treal TV 1 & 2, Ghostride the Whip and others.

Because of Mac Dre's untimely death in 2004, Kilo Curt & J-Diggs were forced to step up their game plan. They created a logo, and put together a company called Thizz Nation, a subdivision of Dre's label. They and fellow rapper Miami became the co-CEOs of Thizz Entertainment.

J Balvin is the stage name of José Álvaro Osorio Balvín, from Medellín, Colombia. Balvin is a reggaeton singer whose polished urban singles and best-selling albums have made him a top-tier Latin pop artist. He became interested in music at a young age while listening to rap, champeta, bachata, and reggae on the radio. He was also a big fan of music videos; it was from these that he began to develop his dance moves and cultivate his own style.

He signed to EMI Colombia in 2009 and released his first single, "Ella Me Cautivó," which charted at 35 on the U.S. tropical chart. This was followed by the release of the full-length Real in 2010. Balvin contributed four tunes to the soundtrack of the Tim Bulot film El Negocio. All of them charted, including "En Lo Oscuro," which hit the top spot in his native country.

La FamiliaBalvin was a featured vocalist on the Colombian version of Robin Thicke's smash single "Blurred Lines," which was issued in October of 2013, just prior to his own second album, La Familia. All four singles from the album charted in Colombia's Top Ten, and "Yo Te Lo Dije" hit number two on the rhythm chart and number nine on the Latin pop chart in the U.S. The B Sides collection appeared in September of 2014, featuring two more radio chart-topping singles in "6 AM" and "Ay Vamos." The latter won a Latin Grammy for Best Urban Song. His 2015 single "Ginza," the offcial pre-release for his next album, entered the Hot Latin Songs chart at number one, topped several others, and was certified platinum.
EnergíaBalvin's collaborations were as notable as his own work that year. He and Julión Álvarez were featured on Juan Gabriel's single "La Frontera." His "Latino Remix" of Justin Bieber's smash "Sorry" scored big for both artists at Latin pop radio and in digital streaming and downloads. The following year, Balvin won the Premios Lo Nuestro Artist of the Year Award and was a featured guest on both Sofia Carson's charting debut single "Love Is the Name" and on Alejandro Sanz's "Cuando Seas Grande" -- from a performance at La Voz -- along with Gloria Trevi and Los Tigres del Norte. In May, he released the single "Bobo," produced by Pharrell Williams, who also appeared on the track along with Mosty and Bia. It topped the Latin songs chart. The full-length, Energia, was produced by Sky and featured additional contributions from Bull Nene, Daddy Yankee, Fuego, Yandel, and Juanes.

There is really only one way to describe JDiggs Tha Prodigy, and that is Unique. He has often been told that he sounds like a southern version of E-40, or even a young Ice Cube. He would prefer to say that he just sounds like himself, but comparisons will always come whether he wants them or not. Having many different influences, he has a wide range of artistic ability and is willing to do anything that he wants to do with the sole purpose of just being heard. Anything from hip-hop to pop to just plain out side of the box style tracks, there is something for everyone to like in this young man's repertoire. His strongest release to date, Uncrowned King, has already made its presence known on Pandora radio and many other digital media outlets, leaving fans wanting more from him. Trust and believe that if you haven't found your favorite JDiggs Tha Prodigy track yet, it is in the process of being written or recorded at any given time.
