Release Info: 
Longstanding dance music stalwart Nick Warren inaugurates the launch of Nātiv Records with Freedom Call / Electro Shock. The two-track EP, set for release on 27th November, includes a collaboration with rising Egyptian talent, Black 8.

Speaking on the formation of the release, Nick Warren described that he was “overjoyed to have both Freedom Call and Electro Shock coming out on Nātiv Records. Freedom Call - which I wrote with Black 8 - has been massive for me in my sets for over a year. Electro Shock is my homage to early Electro records and I was honoured that Martin Buttrich agreed to mix it for me.”

Things get underway with the Freedom Call, as tribal-inspired drums converge on an iconic nineties vocal sample. Smooth pads reside alongside rhythmic key changes, before subtle kicks help move the beat along. Electro Shock finishes proceedings gracefully, as a warming piano roll accompanies staggered snare patterns and surreal, dream-like synths.

A time-honoured talent in the electronic music realm, there are few as well-versed in the art of performing than Nick Warren. A&R for the esteemed Hope Recordings, Nick’s output has spanned multiple decades in a career that has seen him support headline acts such as Massive Attack, as well as hold a residency at clubbing institution Cream. In more recent times, Nick’s keen-ear for production has landed him acclaimed releases on labels such as John Digweed’s Bedrock Records and the iconic Global Underground.

Ukrainian talent Cherry (UA) lands on Siona Records with three of his rugged techno-disco cuts. They have previously landed on the likes Disco Halal and once again here shoot you into outer space. 

Mantra is a dazzling opener with sci-fi chords extending out to the heavens. It's the sort of track that will get hands in the air and lock the crowd in a groove. Himera then opens up with more scintillating synth designs, which are layered over sleek drums and make for a nice expansive atmosphere. Pifia then has a more dark and late night energy, with charging hits and exotic leads that are worldy and majestic.

The opening track is Born Sleepy, a timeless weapon with sweet intro, powerful rhythm and mind-blowing breakdown. The huge Nevertheless connects DePulse's indie touch with his last EP on Sincopat: super high-class synths and melodies into the beloved 90's atmosphere. Murat Uncuoglu offers a massive remix taking the original to the dance floor in a sharp but respecting the essence of the original mix. Spumanta is also breaking the rules of electronic music with an unpredictable base and composition. Italian duo and biggest disco queens of the XXI Century Hard Ton land on Freeride Millenium with a superb new single backed with big remixes from Soulphiction, HiFi Sean, Super Drama and Box Office Poison and provocative artwork from Daniel Rajcsanyi.
Hard Ton are all about Sylvester-styled falsettos vocals, hi-nrg beats and screaming acid bass lines made on analogue synths and vintage drum machines which lends their sound a rugged and authentic edge. They are firm favourites in the disco world with releases on Rekids, Toy Tonics and Opilec Music that light up global dance floors and charts alike. Here they link with Berlin based American musician, singer and songwriter Snax to great effect.
The fantastic ‘Make Up’ is a cover of the 1982 gem from Prince protege’s Vanity 6, here it is offered up as a warm and steamy cut with vast rubbery kicks and big drum fills. Soaring synths rise up through the always dramatic track to keep lifting the energy levels and spoken words and yelps, chunky synth vamps and rattling hits all make for a brilliantly dynamic trip.
Philpot founder Soulphiction is a long time underground stalwart who flips the track into a deeper and more intense affair stripped of some of the drama and instead focusses on vast, funky guitar riffs that get you loosening your bones. Super Drama are Jerome Slesinski and Jon Arnold, a pair with a great reputation as resident DJs at LGBTQI+ hot spots such as Dalston Superstore and Adonis and frequent guests on NTS, Worldwide FM and Rinse FM. They offer up a bright, synth heavy vision with stepping arps and freewheeling drum loops that are taught, twisted, and terrific.
Then comes Hifi Sean, whose FT album won him critical acclaim and took him to headline slots on the Billboard Chart, and to DJ sets all round Europe, the USA and Australia. House, disco and techno all feed into his work and this remix is a rugged and ragged affair that builds the intensity through tough synth stabs and prickly drum work. Last of all, Snax assumes his Box Office Poison alias which has been active for the last decade with various bootleg and official remix projects. He re-builds the track as an upbeat house cut with bounce in the kicks and plenty of neon melodies and classic synth chords.
This is another exceptionally full flavour package of inventive house and disco from Freeride Millenium.
