Coda of Summer 

Impossibility of grasping last rays of departing summer
seeping through cracks in the curtains through the amber light,
wresting moral exhaustion of too bright, too intense, too harsh,
pushing it through the floor of inertia. 
Longing for rest.
Through the walls of detachment from what has never been 
into roots, 
into the soft fertile soil of anticipation 
of next bearing of young 
tendrils are tender spirals of what have been dreamt of.
Seasons on the cusp bringing forward force and yet
burden of potential still lingers quietly somewhere as a chest full of unopened letters,
full with stagnation. 
Through one long stretch of contemplation.
Longing for less.
Last summer whisper hanging on in a dust of sunset. 

With the 13th edition of our mix series Emsho walks us through a meandering path between genres and thus between seasons as we shift from summer to autumn. Alongside it, a written fragment by mayilovesummer echoes her selection. 

Emsho is an Iranian-born DJ/producer based in Brooklyn. Born and raised in Iran, she emerged from the underground before setting sail for NYC, where she found her calling in vinyl collecting while frequenting the various haunts which make up the vibrant Brooklyn underground music landscape. Emsho showcases a variation of styles and rhythms with Latin and UK influences, delivering a dynamic and immersive listening experience. She hosts Crew Cuts parties in NYC, and has released tracks with Domesticated and Apranik records.

In April this year, we gathered for the second time at sleeve++ to share an afternoon filled with good music, company & drinks.

For this episode of the live recording series, we’re excited to present Yugo, who delivered a brilliant vinyl-only set ranging from dubwise depth and sharp-edged gritty breaks to jazzy chords and warm, funky layers.

Yugo started his journey at some rave in southern Germany around the 2010s & basically never stopped. Changing genres, styles, cities, and crews never slowed him down. Why should he? There’s always more to discover.

Listen in and join him on his journey. Some rough cuts and transitions included—just like every good story should have, right?

Producer extraordinaire and sonic explorer Adam Pits graced the Sauna in late Spring with this other-wordly mix that we've had on repeat ever since. Adam's mix evokes feelings best described using his own beautiful and poetic words:

Ben Kamal launches OG01, the inaugural release on his new label, ov guidance.

Side A features two tracks by the Brussels producer a.brehme, conceived as counterparts to one another. The shimmering, meditative ‘Dawning’ carries the promise of daybreak. Plucked strings and hushed morning whispers cast elusive shadows in the soft glow. ‘Extrapolate’, by contrast, runs deep and wide. It unfolds an increasingly impressive arsenal of layered rhythms and melodies—at times unleashing, at times withholding—always with something new up its sleeve.

On Side B, ‘Extrapolate’ is reimagined by Signal Kommt aka Z@p. The Uruguayan producer tightens his grip, carving out an even more unyielding groove. Rather than smoothing the edges, he sharpens them. As the track pushes forward, brewing drama and flickering synths eventually dissolve into the night.
