Beardyman - You Only Like What You Know

I don't have a decent mic sitting around my apartment (and even if I did it's too noisy), so I took advantage of my studio access at my school this semester.

Simply recorded the sound of a switch on a headphone amp, a keyboard, and the wifi switch on my laptop. I looped a specific region of each sound, and chose to cut out every third repeat for each track. 

Because emergence or something.

There's also a delayed version of each track that I mix in and out to fill up empty space.

I've discovered Daniel Shiffman's YouTube Channel after he uploaded a "10 Minute Challenge" for coding the Menger Sponge Fractal.
Dan, if you see/hear this, thanks for your streams and projects on your channel. I really appreciate your educational support for coding beginners! And please don't think this song is an insult or anything like that. I just wanted to have fun with your rhythmic number counting skills! :D

Perlin Noise

Perlin Noise (feat. Daniel Shiffman aka Coding Rainbow)

I have this ocarina that a friend hand-made for me, and I thought it would be cool to include it in a song somehow. It's not in key—she had enough trouble just getting it to make sound—so I stuck to one fingering, cranked up the reverb to make it spacier, corrected the pitch with REAPER, and there I had my Morse code "hi".

To fill in the rest, I played around with C chords in the vibraphone voice of my PX-5S keyboard and added some drums via my Roland TD-4KP electronic drum kit.

I'm quite new to both composing and recording, so this took a disproportionate amount of effort for the amateurish result, but it got me started creating at last, and I learned a ton and quite enjoyed myself. Thanks for listening!
