In 1985, the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra was started by ASA-CHANG, starting with a ska sound unlike that of the main scene, owing to a group of more than 10 people who charged out from Tokyo’s underground scene and showed innovation that the Japanese music scene was aroused by. The band, whose contracted name is Skapara, has done tons of live performances in the streets and clubs of Tokyo. 

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra is a special ska band standing out among the ska bands around the world, and musical performers who contribute many aspects of their music like authentic ska, jazz, and rock to their sounds, referring to their genre as Tokyo Ska. Many overseas artists and music industry people have always been eager to buy their records while staying in Japan. Needless to say, Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra has been a great longing for ska music lovers from all over the world.

Pogo is the name of at least three artists.

1) Pogo is an electronic musician from Perth, Western Australia. Since 2007, Pogo has been taking sounds from films and specific film scenes and sequencing them to form completely new musical pieces. Pogo’s music is often labeled as house or trip-hop.


2) A pseudonym of a London DJ / producer, primarily known for his involvement with the British hip hop scene. He was part of the Jus Bad crew, which featured Monie Love, Sparki and MC Mell’O’, who released the single “Free Style / Proud” (Tuff Groove, 1988). He worked with rapper MC Mell’O’ on his early work, including the legendary album Thoughts Released (Revelation I) (Republic Records - 1990), and also produced the Demon Boyz second album Original Guidance: The Second Chapter (Tribal Bass, 1992). Both records are considered landmarks in the early days of the British hip hop scene. He has continued to be active in the music industry, and is held in high regard for his scratching and remixing skills. He has remixed tracks for De La Soul, Monie Love, House of Pain, Bomb the Bass, KRS-One and Carleen Anderson. He also released mix albums under the “DJ Pogo Presents the Breaks”. on the label: Harmless. He came first in the 1997 UK DMC, second in the European ITF finals and third in the 1997 World DMC. With his crew, The En4cers, he took out the 1999 UK DMC Team competition and went onto place fifth in the world that year.

FreeTEMPO is the solo project of DJ Takeshi Hanzawa, composer based on the activities of Sendai. Start with taking part in the compilation CD was released in June 2001 Irma Records in Italy. Recorded at position 2 of the imposition of table jazz club DJ “Direct NoChaser” London magazine “Montage” song that attracts a lot of attention, has brought a tremendous impact on the club scene world, and in November the same year, Sunaga also elected to the compilation CD “IN A CLEARDAY” by Mr.

80kidz is a 2-person Japanese electro unit formed in 2006. The story of the group begins when former member Mayu met Jun while playing discs at an event of the Japanese indie label Second Royal, in Kyoto. They later met Ali& in Tokyo and the group was formed. They released their first limited bootleg mix CD “The KidzAre Alnight No. 1” in February of 2007, as a three-piece DJ unit. The mix sold-out rapidly and requests for DJ appearances quickly followed. “The Kidz Are Alnight No.2” continued things further forward for them. By that time they were publishing their own remixes on their Myspace website, and various music blog websites such as Kidz By Colette begin to pick up on them and their music began to get blogged and discussed around the world. This attention went even further with the release of their original track “Disdrive”, which was remixed by several known DJs. Their remix of “Ce Jeu” they made for Yelle was part of the remix contest in the blog of the french singer. In August 2008 they released their first EP Life Begins At Eighty, and n May 2009 they released their first original album This Is My Shit. Former synthetizer and vocalist Mayu left the group in late 2009. They’ve performed with Justice, Busy P, Boys Noize, Teenage Bad Girl, Hot Chip, and BoBmo.

Roy Ellis (aka Mr. Symarip) already brilliant as a ten-year old solo singer in the Children’s Gospel choir in the Baptist Church in Kingston, Jamaica.
In his school-days he developed a strong friendship with Jimmy Cliff, and also Bob Marley belonged to his circle of friends. 

Later in the 60s in England & in Europe, he made himself with his giant voice an international name in the Ska, Reggae, Gospel, Blues, Soul scene.
Roy Ellis was also the lead singer from one of the most famous British-Ska, Reggae, Gospel, Blues, Soul, funk Band: The Pyramids/Symarip. 

In the 60s he was one of the pioneers for the Ska and Reggae music in England and Europe.

1966: He was discovered by the “Godfather of Ska”, Laurel Aitken , who wrote and produced 2 songs — “Jesse James Rides Again”, and “Because I Love You”.

1968: He sang himself into the English and German hit parade with:
“Train Tour to Rainbow City”
“All Change on the Bakerloo Line”
(both titles was written by Eddie Grant)
“Mexican Moonlight”
“Moonstomp”
(was written by Roy Ellis and Monty Neysmith)

1970: The documentary film “REGGAE” was filmed in the Wembley Stadium. Roy Ellis interpreted the Ska & Reggae Music and also Gospel songs in Reggae style.

1971: Roy Ellis sang his blues-characteristic compositions “See You Later”, and “To Father”, in the film “WARM DECEMBER”. The star performer was the magnificent film actor Sidney Poitier.

Kenichiro Nishihara (西原健一郎) is a Japanese producer with a yen for jazz and hip-hop. But in his capacity as a keyboardist, he also shows a keen ear for incorporating a little classicism into 2008’s Humming Jazz . And while it might be just a bit lightweight for your average hip-hopper, it’s an interesting detour nonetheless.

In September 2012, Kenichiro released under the alias ESNO the Electronica album Visionary.

July Skies is an ambient/post-rock band from The Black Country, West Midlands, UK. The project started off as a one-man band in 1997, when Antony Harding bought his first guitar. In 2003 he was joined by Epic45 musicians Ben Holton and Rob Glover, who contributed to Harding’s second, third and fourth albums as well as July Skies’ live shows. Harding also contributed to the 2008 Avrocar album ‘Against the Dying of the Light’ on Make Mine Music .

Hatsune Miku (初音ミク, Hatsune Miku) is the first installment in the Vocaloid Character Vocal Series released on August 31, 2007. The name of the title and the character of the software was chosen by combining Hatsu (初, First), Ne (音, Sound), and Miku (未来, Future). The data for the voice was created by actually sampling the voice of Saki Fujita, a Japanese voice actress. Unlike general purpose speech synthesizers, the software is tuned to create J-pop songs commonly heard in anime, but it is possible to create songs from other genres.

Japan (1984 – 2001)

Pizzicato Five (often nicknamed “P5”) is a legendary Japanese group that formed in 1984. Arguably the first group to popularize shibuya-kei from underground circles, they also later on began experimenting with the style, with what some called an innovative genre all their own, blending traditional Japanese pop, alternative, soul, funk, jazz, ye-ye, acoustic folk, and early electronic music, among others. They are also perhaps best known to audiences in the west in their later incarnation as a duo of Nomiya Maki (野宮真貴) and Konishi Yasuharu (小西康陽). 

They are widely credited to have spearheaded the “Shibuya-kei” movement of Tokyo in the 90s, along with Flipper’s Guitar. 

They are known for their eclectic and energetic compositions, which often sound like “new” releases from the late 1960s hipster scene. Their catchphrase—“A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular”—captured the group’s ironic stance but eager attitude. The group broke up in March 2001.

A hugely prolific group, Pizzicato Five would release at least an album-per-year along with various EPs and remix albums during their 16 year-career.

Both Nomiya Maki (野宮真貴) and Konishi Yasuharu(小西康陽) currently enjoy solo careers - with Konishi Yasuharu(小西康陽) producing other artists ranging from PUFFY and Smap to Cornelius and kahimi karie(カヒミ・カリィ) - alongside collaborative remix compilations - from Ella Fitzgerald and The Supremes to classic Disney and Thunderbirds (as in Super-Marionated) music on his Shibuya-based Readymade Records label.

Jakarta, Indonesia (1983 – present)

Slank was formed in 1983 through a school band at a local high school in Slank Jakarta, Indonesia, which named CSC (Cikini Stone Complex). Their main founder, Bimo Setiawan (Bim - Bim) and their fellow bandmates often played a number of Rolling Stones songs at school. The band later changed its name and personnel to SLANK, with Bim - Bim on drums, Erwan on vocals, Bongky on guitars, Denny on bass and Kiki on guitars. The name SLANK itself was taken from their musical attitude, which was, and is still reckless, ignorant and play with undetailed groove (Slengean in Indonesian). 

In the following years, numbers of personnel changes were made, with Pay on guitars, Kaka on vocals and Indra on keyboard, replacing the previous bandmates.

Although they started their journey in the music industry quite roughly, with numerous of rejected demos, SLANK emerged in 1991 with their “The Best Newcomer” award in BASF event. Successes did not always come for SLANK, when three of their personnel, Bongky, Indra and Pay chose to quit the band, and formed their own band (Bip). Following the resignation, Abdee, Ivan and Ridho joined the band, and since then, SLANK has never changed its personnel again.

Today, for more than 20 years of ups and downs, SLANK has released 14 successful albums, with their loyal fans, SLANKERS behind them. 

In 2008, Slank released the new album, “Anthem for the Broken Hearted”, and are currently on U.S. tour promoting the new album.

For more than two decades, Slank has managed a healthy attitude towards their music career, which in turn has helped them throughout the years. Slank has also gained somewhat of a cult status in Indonesia, and according to guitarist Ridho, “Slankers” span all ages.

Eksistensi sebuah kelompok musik memang dipengaruhi oleh banyak hal. Salahsatu yang sering menjadi acuan adalah kesuksesan ketika merilis album pertama. Bila album pertama terhitung sukses, maka biasanya langkah kearah selanjutnya akan menjadi lebih ringan. Tapi bila album pertama gagal, biasanya akan lebih sulit untuk bisa eksis. Apakah ‘teori’ itu berlaku untuk semua kasus ? ternyata tidak. Terbukti dengan banyak kasus one hit wonder alias menghasilkan album hits terus menghilang setelah itu. Hal ini yang terjadi pada WIBY, PONGKY dan DENNY yang tergabung dalam SINGIKU. Kemunculan album pertama (dan satu-satunya) berjudul CERITA PAGI ini sempat mengejutkan. Musik yang mereka hadirkan memang fresh dan unik, plus lagu-lagu yang renyah didengar, membuat mereka menjadi kelompok yang bisa diharapkan. Terlebih single mereka KEBEBASAN kemudian menjadi hits, dengan video klip yang memorable (videoklip ini kemudian mengangkat nama ANDARA EARLY yang berperan sebagai gadis lugu ber behel gigi). Tapi sayangnya, sukses album ini tidak berarti membuat mereka eksis. Selepas album ini mereka malah membubarkan diri.

Kebebasan (Singiku)

God Bless is a hard rock band from Indonesia that was founded in 1973. Their sound is probably close to Deep Purple or Whitesnake. They was honored as the opening act for Deep Purple’s concert in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1975.

In nearly 40 years of career, they had experienced a lot of line up changes. The original line up may be best known of vocalist Achmad Albar with clean rock voice, Ian Antono, one of the best rock guitar player in Indonesia and Yockie S. Prayogo, also one of the best rock keyboard players in Indonesia. From the present members that could be considered as a reunion line up, only vocalist Achmad Albar and bassist Donny Fattah that always been in band from the beginning.

They were very popular in the 80s era, but still have followers to this day. They released a demo as a bonus CD bundled with Rolling Stone Indonesia magazine on May 2009. After 12 years of hiatus, they finally released their 6th studio album titled “36” in the same month as the demo.

Fariz Rustam Munaf yang lebih dikenal dengan nama Fariz RM (lahir di Djakarta, 5 Januari 1961) adalah seorang penyanyi dan musikus Indonesia. Sebagai penyanyi dan musikus, putra dari pasangan Roestam Moenaf, penyanyi RRI Jakarta, dan Anna Reijnenberg ini dikenal masyarakat dengan tembang Barcelona dan Sakura yang menjadi hits di masyarakat. Akira Jimbo, also seen as Akira Jinbo (神保彰 JINBO AKIRA, born February 27, 1959 in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese freelance jazz fusion drummer who is famous for his drumming independence and fusion of electronic drum technology and acoustic drums. Aside from his solo work, he is also the drummer in the Japanese jazz fusion band Casiopea and has participated in various side projects with other musicians, including Keiko Matsui, Shambara, bassist Brian Bromberg.

Under The Big Bright Yellow Sun (UTBBYS) is an instrumental post-rock band which was created since 13th of August, 2007 in Bandung, Indonesia. The journey started since Yadi (Komeng) met Iben in an art gallery of the famous university which is located at the eastern of Bandung. With a same taste of music, they agreed to make an instrumental post-rock band that inspired of famous post-rock band, such as Explosions In The Sky, This Will Destroy You, Sigur Ros, Mono, etc. 

Their first formation consisted of four guys, namely Komeng (guitar), Eben (drum), Ion (guitar) and Apo (guitar). But Ion and Apo should leave the band because their own personal life, then their positions were replaced by Panji and Jay also. But thus, that formation didn’t last long, Panji’s position was replaced by Eza, and Jay’s role was replaced by Ranyay. Feel a need on filling the bassist’s role, Gani came in as the fifth personnel. In the end, he also chose to leave, now his position being filled by Didi.

Now, the personnel of UTBBYS are Yadi Riyadul a.k.a Komeng (treble guitar bow & noisy sounds), Ranyay (low guitar & experimental bell), Eza (middle Guitar & harmony sounds), Didi (Bass) and Iben (Drum). The name of Under The Big Bright Yellow Sun was taken from their own philosophy about how they live their life beautifully.

UTBBYS’s music is a reflection of their daily life. Happy, sad, grateful, desperate, depressed, anger, that’s all reflected from their music arrangement. UTBBYS don’t want to be glued with the post-rock pattern that’s identically with gloomy and monotonous.
