"This mix was recorded in TDF Studios near my home at Quito, Ecuador. The mix includes tracks produced by me and released on my own name from 2022 to 2024. I took a year hiatus in 2023 where I focused on my Ópalo alias dedicated to more ambient and experimental kind of music. With this mix I wanted to return to my roots based on Deep House, Minimal and Deep Downtempo. The mix was recorded with a DJ setup, two CDJ’s and a mixer with rotary filters." - @alejandro_romero_music

The unfinished story yearns for its ending, while unspoken words linger, echoing in the void. Silence becomes a magnet, attracting answers whose sound carries no doubt. Like an unconscious wave, it begins with a dream, sweeps across the room, whispers good night to the moon and leaves behind the rhythm of another drum.

This emotional and creative adventure combines fresh, unreleased tracks from Z8's production with his favourite tracks collected through the journey of sonic research - an eclectic mix born from the tips of his fingers, shaped by his diverse tastes and interests. Not bound by the need to prove a specific concept, but instead seeking to unite cherished explorations and reflect his essence in its purest form.

The aim is to discover an entirely new view by reframing familiar perspectives in a relentless pursuit of the unknown. This search offers both challenge and solace, weaving together passions, obsessions and desires, and exploring the subtle nuances that lie in between.

Alejandro Romero dived into electronic music at the age of fourteen. He enjoyed listening to a wide spectrum of styles within the genre. His passion for mysterious and deep records increased with the years, going from the common to the most unusual kind of beats. His first attempt to expose his productions was under his own name and he kindly received feedback and likes from labels like Futurepast, Honne Music, Todd Nerdy, WhatNowBecomes and a few more from around the globe. After this success he decided to pursue a career in the Latin American scene with a new moniker called 'Amalgama'. This moniker had the intention to release non-binary music in which he pulled out records on labels like Halcxn, Cavilar, Organic Records, Ruem Trax, Impresión and his own label Overlap Records. The project highlight is a four track vinyl release in the Berlin based label 'System Error'. At the same time Alejandro had the necessity to explore downtempo and ambient realms. He discovered a whole new scene thanks to the attention of webzines like Delayed and Inverted Audio who premiered tracks from his past releases. With this support he launched 'Ópalo', an alias created to expose his taste for experimental downtempo and idm music. His first release under this moniker was an seven track album called 'La Edad Invisible' which was released in Caracteres, a sub label of Overlap Records created for ambient and electronica.

Alejandro future projects include an alias called Quantum, a moniker that compiles his past works that where not considered by records labels. He discovered this music was unique and special. Part of the project is to expose his taste for abstract art made by him with oil on paper. In the present he's still curating the boutique label Overlap Records and his sub label Caracteres.

MOREX (Martín Mora Ortega)

Born in Quito and based in Manabí, Martín Mora Ortega, also known as MOREX, is a poet, translator and DJ/Producer. His musical journey began in 2011 in Buenos Aires. Descended from a family of musicians, his ear was formed in the sensitivity of passion, rhythm and melody.

By 2014, Martín was playing regularly in two now-defunct iconic bars: Acapulco and Blues. Always faithful to his musical taste, his DJ sets are characterized by constant House rhythms, powerful bass lines full of groove and subtle or suggestive vocals. His sets follow the Deep/Indie/House/Soul Funk line, offering an exquisite musical selection that combines groove and melodies with an energy that is impossible to ignore on stage.

MOREX states that he does not believe in DJs who play a track that they would not dance to.
In “MOVING METAPHOR”, his latest release with OVERLAP RECORDS, Martín presents an EP that encapsulates his metaphorical style, influenced by laconicism. Experimentation and freedom are his paradigm.
