Hello and welcome to the Armamentarium! 

My name is Professor Kessy and I will be your 6th-gen HumanMaschine guide and assistant today. If you have any questions, please use your touch-to-touch net augments to ask me a question by placing your fingertip on my palm. My model supports multiple local net conversations at once if you choose to augment your reality. Or if you want an auditory conversation, feel free to walk up to me and I'll gladly assist you. Now please follow me and stay close. Our security escorts will follow in front and behind our group, but they are just a precaution.

If you take a look at our 2nd floor, you could say that it is the brain of this whole arcology complex. Everything is run from the Daily Operations Module in Sector Alpha, which is the entryway on your left. The Daily Operation Managers and HumanMaschine assistants run the whole system, but Professor Clauk and Professor Deathmen have the final say on issues of greater importance such as new technological acquisitions, current and future research schedules, delivery shipments, and security intrusions. They are headquartered at the top of the massive concrete and carbon nano-tube  meeting hall you see in front of you. 

Continuing on this main artery of the 2nd floor will lead us to Sector Bravo, where The Armamentarium hosts an innumerable number of laboratories, engineering bays, test firing ranges, nexus systems, and coffee shops. The research hub is always teeming with meaningful activity in the advancement of the human race. Multiple scientific projects are always in session... oh good morning Professor Cobocil! That was Dr. Cobocil who is just coming out of the research hub. He must have had a long night tinkering with his projects!

Anyways, as I was saying, lots of research in done at The Armamentarium. Our scientists, engineers, designers, architects, and artisans are always hard at work. From The Armamentarium's foundation in the late 2050s to now, we have changed the fabric of society through our persistent and undying need for innovation. From Dubfield point defense systems for mechanized battled walkers to energy conversation optimizations in plasma weaponry, we excel at creating one of the best emotions you will ever have: a sense of pride in your Earthian roots when you hold and use one of technological implements in the cold loneliness of the infinite beyond.

Oh! Look to your right, esteemed guests! Dr. Answar is Coding something right now! Oh... he's gone and blacked out the viewing window. Sorry about that folks! He's Requesting that we go somewhere else because we are distracting him. Let's move on shall we?  

Continuing on, when you purchase one of our innovations, you are funding and helping our brothers and sisters in green and blue out there in the great expanse. Danny Wolfers (most frequently known as Legowelt) is a producer and performer who has worn many hats, all of them styled with finesse. His range is immense but never disparate; through releases for Clone, L.I.E.S., Creme Organization and Peoples Potential Unlimited (among others) Legowelt has spanned everything from frosty techno, sprawling boogie and melodic acid house to chugging electro without sacrificing bonafide quality or pandering to the fad du jour. In his newest effort, a debut EP for Fotomachine’s Technicolour imprint entitled Anaconda Flow, listeners are treated to that dynamism in its very finest form. Uplifting, dreamy synth sequences are incorporated alongside his instantly recognizable gritty floor-fillers for a four-piece package that will both delight the home listener and devastate the dance. His long-demonstrated devotion to hardware is utilized here to extraordinary effect: blips bubble to a murky surface, twinkles cascade from above and a kick drum pulses straight through everything it touches—all in all a darkly immersive little jewel, though who would have expected any less?

"My own loss of Chinese and estrangement from my blood shouldn’t be hidden, and the translations aren’t all correct. 

Baojiaxiang is the street that my family lives on. It is a homonym to a system of community enforcement, of looking out for one another. To me in writing it looks like “to hold the home alley.” My mother always told me that there’s nothing more important than what others think of you. I never asked her if she knew about this similarity. 

The orchestra of the frozen state is the machine, my laptop. It belongs to my past in my estrangement as well as the functions of this estrangement, with what little money my mother had that she spent on my classical training. More often than most kids in the hood I found myself in a suit, on a stage, in front of a bunch of rich people. Now more often than not I find myself longing to be there again, a component of a larger system that I could blindly spew my technique into without regard to its meaning. 

I made this tape because I don’t know who I am. I understand that this is a common problem, and that most people solve it by looking into their pasts, or connecting with their family, or something. None of these are viable, or possible really. I don’t believe I was ever meant to become a doctor and support family. I can’t see myself moving weight from one city in Arizona to another. I fucked up my voice with smoking so I can’t sing in choir anymore. 

So I took all of that piano knowledge and made something that sounds a little bit more like all the people around me. I want to thank all of my friends for holding me up along the way. I want to thank Los Angeles for giving me this gift of confidence in a lush, dissonant sound. I want to thank every dead white man for writing music that helped me become better than all their sons. I will thank China when I finally go home."

D’incarnations en réincarnations, Judah Warsky et Yeti Lane se côtoient et s’apprécient depuis leurs débuts. Il aura pourtant fallu attendre 2017 pour qu’une première collaboration ait lieu, chacun remixant l’autre, juste comme ça, pour le fun.
Tandis que Judah, depuis Buenos Aires, a silencieusement transposé Ne Dis Rien au cours d’une semaine de printemps au milieu de l’automne, à Paris les Yeti Lane se sont enfermés dans leur repaire souterrain et, seuls face à l’écran de leur studio, ont ré-enregistré le titre de Judah.
Le résultat : un quart d’heure de total trip narcotique et envoûtant.

The 68th edition of the DJ-kicks mix series is another landmark one, with experimental producer Laurel Halo taking the reins. The American’s adventurous 29-track trip features seven exclusives, including two of her own plus those from Rrose, Machinewoman, FIT Siegel, Nick León and Ikonika.

An electronic outlier, Halo hails from Ann Arbor, Michigan, but has been based in Berlin for a number of years. Landing on labels like Hyperdub, Honest Jon’s and Latency, Halo has released a body of work ranging in style, yet cohered by production and compositional tendencies that sound distinctly her own. Her studio work tends to be a multi-layered mix of the electronic and the acoustic, the organic and the synthetic. As a DJ, meanwhile, she lays down more floor-focussed mixes of techno, bass and worldly drum rhythms, and her live sets are similarly visceral and direct.

Halo’s DJ-kicks packs a lot in to just 60 minutes. It kicks off with the first of two of her own exclusives, ‘Public Art’, a tactile piano loop that sets the melodic tone of the mix in focus. Crunchy drums soon take over and begin what is a blistering ride through electro, trippy minimalism and textures that range from icy and dubby to steel plated and sharp from the likes of Red Axes, Parris and an exclusive from Rrose.

Another exclusive, rough and ready techno cut from Machinewoman follows, before the mid section twists and turns on surging drum patterns, frantic industrial textures and spaced out gqom sounds from the likes of Griffit Vigo, Dario Zenker and Final Cut. This is a mix forever on the move: one minute its tightly coiled and kinetic, the next it’s loose and joyful before switching into more cerebral and insular passages that keep you intrigued. Fusing together so many disparate sounds and textures is no mean feat, but like everything Halo does, here they all add up to something as thrilling and edgy as it is unpredictable and compelling.
