Almost Famous is a Berlin based DJ. Growing up with 90s hip hop, he gradually found his way to house and disco music through funk and soul. While he always had a passion for sharing music and collecting records, he started DJing only a few years back. What started as a gig for fun at a friend’s birthday party slowly but surely developed into a real passion for mixing music on a regular basis. Together with a couple of friends, Almost Famous organizes and hosts ‘Not In My House’ and ‘Disko, No Disko’, both recurring club nights at Humboldthain Club in Berlin. Though bringing joy to people on the dance floors of Berlin is what initially drove his love for mixing music, he adapted to the current circumstances by starting to contribute to more and more guest mixes for house and disco lovers to enjoy, wherever they are.

Deep Into The Underground (14/05/22)

While it's one of the more dramatic titles I've associated with a new mix, it's not without good reason.  The process of compiling and delivering this mix has worked wonders for my mental health over the last little while.

For the last 20 years, music has served as my primary creative outlet, however; recent opportunities to indulge in the craft or completely immerse myself in a creative project haven't been as abundantly available nor really possible.  (Most new parents or those working in high-pressure professional endeavours might share the same insight.)

So I did a thing.  Indeed, my first thing in a little while...

Put simply, this was me, pinching available pockets of time, throwing on some music and pressing record while doing so.  There was little rhyme nor reason to its execution, rather than embracing an opportunity to process some newer purchases or indulgently enjoying a worn favourite.  (My Ecler Nuo 5 being a notable addition into the latter category.)

I completed this over a number of weekends—on some days, I contributed only half an hour; on others, a little longer—picking up from exactly the point I had finished during the previous window.

It's raw, honest, largely unedited—though, I obviously had to join each session recording—and it's all me, doing something I genuinely enjoy and have done for some time.

I hope this translates into a reasonable journey for you, the listener—I'll continue to enjoy it nonetheless.

Luis Arturo Anaya aka LuixArt, after experiencing in a couple of rock groups, centered his senses in electronic music by getting to know more deeply in workshops workshops and classes to be able to structure his own melodies and print a distinctive Latin acid sound taking the dawn as a practice and production schedule. He is part of an electronic music project namedc deepeace and also another project called Chipsweet in which he participates in instruments, machines and compositions. He is also, one of the founders of the collective House de las Casas, supporting the promotion and development of electronic music and video mapping artists.


He has a taste for general music but feels more identified with Latin house and Detroit techno so his musical tendencies come from Nortec Shock Bukara, Gapalapago, Sussie 4, Glenn Astro, Frankie Knuckles, Louie Vega, Kaskade, Max Graef, Fouk, Felipe Gordon, Phill Weeks, Jeff Mills, Nina K Ravitz among others. From these artists derives the hobby and the use of turntables to be able to share a select collection of vinyl records. He also developed a totally analogous live format with sequences and synthesizers without the use of a laptop. This is how he manages to participate in the best festival events and clubs in the area.
