Eleven

This is probably the nearest I will ever get to creating a Christmas Song. The orchestral idea came first and then the lyrics and vocal performance.

After a year of doing quite a few instrumental tracks, it's nice to end the year with a song as lyric writing is still important to me. The words keep coming out of the 'ether' so I keep writing them down.

This track actually incorporates quite a few things I learnt this year:-

basic orchestral composition, better use of DAW automation and more sophisticated engineering techniques like the use of side-chained reverb. I've also realised I don't need to play guitar at all to make music.

It was a no brainer for me to include this classic song on my cover album. Made famous by Marvin Gaye and CCR. The song’s “hook” has always taken up a little space in the song memories floating around in my brain. Hope you enjoy.
