Backstory: When Steinberg released Retrologue 2, not enough people got quite as excited as I did.

I felt as if I was the only person on the planet to appreciate the full power of Retrologue 2, so I set out on a space mission - these are the sounds I returned to Earth with.

In truth: I think the new Retrologue 2 is an incredibly underrated synth, so I produced this as proof.

All programmed in Cubase Pro 8.5 - I call this project, "Captain's Log".

Bio

Benjamin Hayes started DJing in 1997, producing in early 2003 and has had the opportunity to play at major dance parties across Australia and internationally in USA, New Zealand and the UK.

Haze is the owner and label manager of Executive Records, Executive Digital, Recycled Records and Recycled Digital. He uses these outlets to push his productions, and the productions of other Australian artists around the world.

Haze’s early beginnings started with Breakbeat, Jungle and Drum & Bass. His musical influences come from producers from the infamous Moving Shadow, Reinforced and Kniteforce labels to name a few. 

Production wise Haze now focuses on the sounds of yesteryear with tracks ranging from 130bpm to 170bpm in either early Hardcore, Breakbeat, Jungle or Drum & Bass.

Renowned for his scratching abilities and tight mixing his 28-year DJ career has given him the experience to deliver a mind blowing set each time.

Be prepared for an energetic hardcore set that Haze is renowned for with plenty of new tracks fresh from the studio!

Executive Records was formed in 2004 by Sydney’s Ben Hayes as an outlet for both his own productions and those emerging from a number of talented young Australian artists such as Haze, Weaver, Dover, JTS, S3RL, Antix, Suae, Tom-E, Destiny, Reazn &amp; Implex.

Kicking off to an explosive start, Executive Records has already unleashed a series of powerful, soaring efforts and will be covering hardcore in its broadest sense, incorporating uplifting vocal numbers and tough freeform pounders, but always keeping things euphoric and musical. Myself & Jimmy J co-founded the Remix Records record shop in Camden opening on the 4th of January 1994. In 1993 the music had splintered into Jungle & Happy Hardcore. Most of the record shops in London were stocking a lot more Jungle than HH, Each shop would only carry a few HH tunes each so you’d have to visit all the shops to buy all the release's of that week which was fun but very time consuming. It was therefore apparent that London was crying out for a dedicated Happy Hardcore shop & thus Remix Records was born. It was pretty much an instant success.. Later that year Jimmy started the Remix Record record Label with Cru-L-T and together with its big brother Kniteforce Records they defined the sound of a generation. At this time I was playing @ free parties & anywhere that would have me! Diehard Leicester were the first club to give me a break closely followed by my spiritual home Labrynth ... By 1997 I was playing regularly for events such as Slammin Vinyl, Unired Dance, Hardcore Heaven, Destiny, GBH, Dizstruxshon, Illusion, Dreamscape, Helter Skelter & many more.. It was long before I started to get bookings from around the world coming in including Germany, Canada, Poland, Singapore & many hazie visits to Ibiza... All of the above was all about Hardcore & Happy hardcore as the music evolved.. From 1999 I also started to play & produce Hard House as The Trixta with a weekly residency for Substance which was a room for Freedom @ Bagleys which ran for 2 years. In 2003 I decided to stop playing hardcore as the music which I truly loved had evolved into music so far from what it was when I began I felt it was time to move aside and give the opportunity to other that had a passion for it... During lockdown down I've been listening to alot of the old tunes that I love and decided to get myself back out there playing all things Breakbeat Hardcore.. Ive been back in studio & had a record signed by Return of the Vibe Records & been playing up and down the UK with a new residency for Strawberry Sundae .. sesyou on dance floor soon! Peace.
