This mix was put together as part of my participation in The Little Volcano’s Conscious Creators Club program. This mix was an attempt to get into my heart space. My coach Denika helped me to see that I need to do the things I love when I am in fear and uncertainty. I became aware that when I am going through major transitions in my life with lots of fear and uncertainty, I tend to shrink myself down and isolate myself. 

  I purposely sought out songs that made me want to dance, and made my heart feel warm and open. I allowed my deep inner wisdom to find the tracks that held deep meaning to what I’ve been going through in my mind space. This activity helped to connect my heart to my mind. 

I know in my mind that playing with music won’t solve my problems, nor will it make the uncertainty of life go away. However, I do know in my heart that change always takes place in the world from the bottom-up and not the top-down. Shifting my own personal energy is one thing I will always have control over.

We are facing an opportunity unprecedented in our time, to remake the world anew. To collapse into the twilight zone of anxiety and fear is to discard the chance of a lifetime to be part of something truly incredible.”

OWLCHEMIST is a pet project of Carissa’s, who is a music-loving, and astrology-loving engineer working in Nanotechnology. (Ya. What a paradox, right?) Astrology is baked into alchemy, and Alchemy is baked into Chemistry. So.... You do the math.

Carissa has been participating in western Canada’s electronic music scene for over a decade. Dance floors were her home away from home before she started volunteering at music festivals and eventually began dabbling in interactive art installations.

COVID-19 had her truly missing her summer dose of music and dancefloors, so she decided to start mixing music at home to fill the void.

While she is new to the mixing game, her taste in music spans across many genres and tempos. You will find a wide range of musical influences in her mixes. Each mix is a journey, so enjoy the ride!
