New b-side from Australian indie-folk artist Owls of the Swamp (aka Pete Uhlenbruch) recorded & mixed in Melbourne in June 2013 by James McGauran (White Wolf Compositions) at White Wolf Studios.

Features special guest Mick Hazelman (The Hazelman Brothers) on electric guitar and backing vocals.

The song was inspired during a 2012 tour of Czech Republic when Pete was playing all his favourite songs to a friend and realised after a few hours that all his favourite songs were sad, and that for him, happiness is indeed a sad song.

No instruments were harmed in the making of this track.

'Ghostflake' is the second (and last) in a small series of b-sides released this year from <a href="http://www.facebook.com/owlsoftheswamp">Owls of the Swamp</a> (the indie-folk project of Australian singer-songwriter, Pete Uhlenbruch), currently recording his third album in Iceland and the UK (due for release in 2014).

Recorded and mixed by Adam Casey at <a href="http://www.facebook.com/thetruevineproductions">The True Vine Studios</a> in Melbourne, 'Ghostflake' is a brief departure from his usual guitar-picking sound. Driven instead by warm antique pianos and a collection of vintage instruments, Uhlenbruch pairs up with Australian singer songwriter <a href="http://www.facebook.com/ainsliewills">Ainslie Wills</a> to deliver a low-key duet that explores the theme of overcoming mortal fears.

'Ghostflake' follows the release of the first b-side 'Happiness is a sad song' (released August 2013) and the first single from the forthcoming album 'the Hypnotist' (released March 2013).

Owls of the Swamp - So Far Away

'Water Song' was written by Australian troubadour Pete Uhlenbruch (aka Owls of the Swamp), and founder of the international Melodica Festival, specifically for the 2011 Viva con Agua Wassertage Campaign. The song was written and recorded 'on the road' in living rooms and kitchens during a three-week tour of Germany in September 2011 and features guest performances from fellow 'International Troubadour Conspiracy' troubdaours Torben Stock (GER), Kid Decker (UK) and Maik W. Garthe (GER). 'Water Song' is a gentle folk song reflecting on the many different qualities and personalities of the water element.
