I actually wrote and recorded most of this in one day back in September of 2012. At the time I was really obsessed with late 50s/early 60s lullaby doo wop songs from bands like The Flamingos and The Fleetwoods. Since then I’ve become aware of an unexpected parallel in subject matter between this song an entire genre of teenage tragedy songs from that era. I never posted it because I was unhappy with my vocal performance, but I’ve realized there’s no point in letting it waste away, unlistened to, just because it’s not perfect.

Liverpool lass Lauren Lo Sung has had one foot in the rave since she was 16. Skanking to funky house and hitting all-nighters at Sven Vath’s Cocoon night in Ibiza sparked an interest in house and techno that would see her become one the scenes youngest underground producers and DJs. 

At 18, Lauren started running her own parties in sweaty basement clubs around Liverpool, Manchester and London and now at 24, is already able to tick opening up for Carl Cox at Space off her bucket list (he even danced behind her with one of her LOLiFE tee shirts on).
Now we welcome the selector into the mix for i-D, bringing a deep and dubby blend of house and techno for her debut i-DJ. Enter the sound of Lauren Lo Sung.

This track was recorded from the hotel's room during a tropical thunderstorm in Barichara, Colombia. The room had a very large window without a glass so all of these amazing sounds were able to be listened to during my visit to this lovely colonial town.

This is a remix of Yuri Konos track "Hikari"- produced by Goncalo Abrantes(aka GON: https://soundcloud.com/gonsmusic), in which I focused to create a picture, associated with stone skipping ( jap.: Mizu-kiri). Therefor I concentrated on Yuris voice, haevingly manipulated and underlined with a dark space.
