Some ideas of what Macario is:
Macario is an old movie of what we know in Mexico as Curandero, the person. Macario is in charge to heal his son and the people from his village, a gift given by a source of water when he goes to the hills and collects firewood for the candel makers in town for el dia de los muertos while he learns about sacred messages from the spirits hiden on the nature to bring food for his poor family, he cures all kinds of maladies and he knows if the person is about to die or not. Cabeza de Vaca chants on a ceremony to find his prisioner who run away, I recomend both movies and books to understand the message in the song or at least to know where I got inspired to make this song.
