Radio Slave announces Rekids Special Projects ‘Actualize’ compilation and DJ mix - Part 1 will be released in January, with Part 2 to follow in February 2023.

Rekids Special Projects, the no-nonsense techno-focused sub-label of Radio Slave, aka Matt Edwards’ Rekids, launched in 2017 and has since released music from the likes of Mark Broom, Luke Hess, Jon Hester, and more. For the 50th release, Edwards readies ‘Actualize’, bringing acts from the wider Rekids universe into one slick collection, with the first part arriving this January alongside a DJ mix of the tracks.

“The original concept was a vinyl-only offshoot of Rekids, focusing on techno and a home for our extended family of artists. We’re now working with so many new and exciting young artists, such as Confidential Recipe and the incredible Theo Nasa, and Rekids Special Projects is a rock-solid platform to shout about good quality club-focused techno music. Stephane K sound - very deep, often dark and always sexy as hell - straight from the grooviest alleys of New York City and into the world's best clubs. Superstar DJs John Digweed, Danny Howells, Danny Tenaglia and Pete Tong were among the first to champion the Stephane K sound and made it an international sensation. What was "the new sound of New York" has gone well beyond the banks of this metropolis and is now a global craze.

There is a certain texture and mood to every track. Stephane has an affinity for good, quality vocals (but not the over-the-top diva kind), steamy percussion and twisted, tribal efx. This formula has been used time and again in the construction of some of the most popular remixes of the last decade. Stellar remix portfolio includes reworkings of Kosheen's "Hide U", Satoshi Tomiie's "Love In Traffic", New Order's "Crystal", Nat Monday's "Waiting", Hybrid's "True To Form", Moony's "Doves", Puretone's "Addicted To Bass", The Crystal Method's "You Know It's Hard", Sinead O'Connor's "Troy" and Iio's classic anthem, "Rapture". Although this list features artists representing many different musical styles, they have one thing in common - these tracks have all been made into dance floor hits.

Razvan Botez aka Utip is a Berlin based producer and DJ who draws his inspiration from the city's unique underground house scene. His music combines a series of minimal and house elements with groovy beats. He enjoys and finds his escape in the beauty of connecting to an audience through the energy created by the sound of the music. He has collaborated with labels like: NG Trax (Ibiza), Golden Gate (Berlin), Micronica Record (Riga), Lemon Herb Records (UK), Tzinah Record (Romania), Into The Woods Rec (UK), Duboka (UK), Layer Caked Records (UK), Musik Lab Records (Uk), Backstage Records (Romania), Ariki Records (Romania), Conceptum Records (Brazil), Evaporate Records (Taiwan), Puzzle Rec (Brasil).

Isn’t it so that sometimes, the best thing you can do on the dance floor is to retreat inward?
Use the space and sound to slow down and check in with yourself. Reflect on life, on where you’re at.
Or you can just say fuck it, simply let go and enjoy the ride! 

I have a selection that, at least for me, has created a powerful sense of capability, that kind of melancholic euphoria, you probably know what I mean? 

Shared experience and piecing that together is sacredly important to me. I am willing to take risks when crafting that together.  What does that mean in practice? 
I’ve noticed that having a few surprises up my sleeve in terms of music selection really helps with that. When the crowd is even a little on edge, wondering what’s coming next, it keeps that good tension and collaborative vibe alive.

Over the past years, I’ve more often managed to create that “in the same boat” feeling on the dance floor. That’s the most important thing for me: when I see people exchanging approving looks, collectively building the co-created experience. 

I’m happy to put myself in a vulnerable position, even risk becoming laughed at in a situation where some electronic music purist might say, “You can’t do that, it’s tasteless crap.” But then it ends up working on the floor in that moment. And if it doesn’t, that’s a price I'm willing to pay. 

I believe emotional intelligence is just as essential to a great DJ as musical taste and a well-stocked record collection. Hundreds of nights spent on dance floors don’t hurt either.

I take this craft very seriously, but that doesn’t mean I can’t approach it with a touch of playfulness. I' active atm and in the past year I have played from Après-Ski in the Alps to Clubs, Bars to Underground Raves to regional Burning Man events. 

I spend hours daily digging new music. I have a vast collection, spanning from indie dance to minimal, progressive, deep house, and techno.  

I'm always excited to play. I have a deep addiction to moments where magic and emotions are co-created on the dancefloor ✨✨
