Journey 001 : Eudaemonia

At Garbicz we had to honor to close the Seebühne stage on Thursday 04:00 until sunrise. The combination of the crowd, dancers, stage, surrounding trees, the lake, fog and upcoming sunrise made us to come up with this musical journey.

Here's the recording for my DJ set from July 2nd, 2017 at the Katerblau Kiosk, hands down my favorite place to play music in Berlin.  The whole venue is a wonderland of discovery, the staff is extremely kind and hospitable, and I don't think I've played for a more open minded crowd in all of Europe. Longer sets allows you to take your time and be patient with the music, and the mixing.  The slow building journey I had imagined in my mind, was possible to make a reality, and extra time allowed me to experiment as well. This was probably my favorite gig of my entire 2 month Summer Sol Europe Tour. I hope you enjoy this mix as much as I had creating it in the Kiosk.  Thanks to Mira, Britta, Martin, Claudia, Joyce, David, Brett, Toto, Sylvie, Dorin, any other friends I may have forgotten who were there, and especially to all you lovely dancers who joined me on this ride. We were drawn to his musical imagination and expression after listening his Akumandra track “Santa Sangre Patria” with Nicolas Larco. His live mixes are something to play close attention to, as every sound detail results in a clean layer of hypnotic and ancestral callings.

@montoyamusic is a colombian violinist and composer. Since 2001 he lives in Italy
His sound research led him to combine electronic experimentation with classical structures.After the albums ‘El viaje’ and ‘Mohs’ (edited by Fábrica), his turning point arrived with ‘IWA’, a record produced by italian label White Forest Records. That new music path reflects the soul of this artist, who’s able to bring the essence of the mountains of the Andes to Europe and at the same time, to reunite the popular and tribal tradition, mixing carefully his culture with the european tradition. 
His music is a fusion of contrasts and refined new combinations, full of wet colors derived from the Latin American culture and mingle with Western rationalism. The short-circuit becomes more evident by the careful selection of electronic sounds and melodies in a constant clash of rhythms and traditions. The particular texture that gives the violin adds to a rich soundscape tribal chants that come from the heart of the jungle.

Alright, Gab Rhome, you convinced us! Our livers (and waistlines) could use a cleansing break after all those delicious cocktails. Let’s cut out booze for a while and enjoy a rejuvenating and energizing glass of the earth’s most delicious, most healthy foods: milk!  

Gab Rhome, born in Montréal and living in NYC, milked his favorite cow (what’s her name by the way?) on his farm to ensure today’s Schirmchendrink is full of vitamins, minerals and amino acids. 

Grab a cookie and dip it into Gab’s dreamy and hypnotic vibes. 

He began his musical journey at an early age playing multiple instruments while being shaped by jazz music, and it only took a few years before making a transition towards the rhythms of dance music. 

Only within few years of producing Gab gained worldwide attention with releases on label heavy weights such as All Day I Dream, Anjunadeep, Kindisch, Get Physical and Last night on Earth.  

His delicate melodic tech-house productions have brought him on journeys across the globe, for example to the @radiovenao Gathering in Panama, where this set was recorded. As you are about to experience, a similar voyage is built during his dj sets.

Huge thanks to the Robot Heart crew for inviting me to start my week on the playa with a set on the bus. I played on Sunday night at the beginning of the week, just before Monday sunrise. There's something special about that early part of the week, a more low-key vibe as the city is being built all around us. An anticipation lingers in the air for the explosion of excitement and energy that is soon to come. I played a set that reflects that feeling - deep and smooth energy, but with a gentle insistence to keep pushing forward. Hope you enjoy it!
