An existential trip across 3 tracks recorded in one 12 hour session, with the source material written for live-performance in early 2021. Heavy on the 303, with rhythmic propulsion for the breaks-inclined heads. Tinged with heavy nostalgia for the atmosphere of DIY sound systems in the Australian bush.

Making her debut on Biologic Records, complete with a remix from Steffi, here we find the talented Belgian artist strapping up her rocket boosters for a four-track trip into infinity. It takes in influences from dark matter to Detroit, black holes to Brussels.

‘Aurora Space Station’ is a beautiful rave-inspired breakbeat floatation piece that sets the scene, poking fun at the mega-rich who can afford to seriously entertain the idea of leaving this planet for dust. More thrust is added by the deep space electro of Steffi’s thumping remix. Both have more power than all the fossil fuel Bezos and Branson have burnt in the last 10 years.

Deeper into the cosmos we probe…. ‘Neptunian Sea’ takes off from Chicago, fuelled on an intoxicating combo of acid and Italo. ‘Love Bus’ brings the anti-gravity heat with a heavy, hip-writhing nod to the jazz spirit of UR’s Galaxy 2 Galaxy movements.

We might not be able to afford a holiday in space, but we can afford great art like this. The dancefloor has always been the most effective place for teleportation. Ready for take off?

There was a strange, mysterious object which floated in the dense night sky. It flashed an electric green, illuminous and weird amidst a backdrop of delicate stars. It left a lot to the imagination - what was inside? Who was in flight? Were these creatures from the great beyond? It had been a long time since they'd last seen a UFO around these parts, not since the hot and heavy summer nights of the sixties. Then again, who knew what they'd seen way back then in the days of old. It was but a blur to him, a psychedelic haven of rage and madness.

A little while back we featured a mix from the ever playful musician and producer Your Planet Is Next. A Scandinavian superhero of sorts who has come to save the day from snobby enthusiasts and those who take life too seriously. He appears on a new split EP for Warning Records with a track called "UFO".

"I made the album this spring during an intense creative period back home in Stockholm. I was obsessed with my studio, I wanted to spend all my time awake there. I found out I was getting evicted from it, this sudden chock turned into a decision to do this album. It made sense, like an "end of an era" thing. I was pretty isolated back then, spending almost all my time outside of the studio with my daughter Bozi. She snapped the cover photo while I was picking out records for a gig. I never wanted to leave the studio during these months, but I realise now how the breaks with Bozi worked for the process - they gave me space to reflect on the music I was making. Good news! Pacific Rhythm is once again connecting game with one of Toronto's most promising young duos, Active Surplus. Active Surplus is the collaborative project from Evan Vincent (AKA Emissive) and Ian Syrett, who also appear on this past winter's fourth volume of Rhythms Of The Pacific.

Their new self-titled EP is their love letter to the house music sound that first sprouted from the West Coast. It's laid-back, groovy and touched with lovely instrumentation, like the plucked strings on "Meera," a heartfelt tribute to a loved one. "Meera" and the billowing groove of "Ambrosia" might remind you of early Pacific Rhythm releases, with dainty arrangements and chords that waft across the rhythm section.

But Active Surplus put their own spin on things. The EP was heavily inspired by the stuttering drum patterns of Baltimore club, which undergird each track in subtle but noticeable ways, making the grooves that much skippier and slippier. "Yeye" calls to mind the feeling of early Walt J material and delivers a devastating earworm that will stick with you long after the lights have come on at the end of a late night Dance Opportunity, while the looped woodwinds and cool-blue keyboards offer a sweet melodic hook on the irresistible "One Beyond." There's a confident, naturalistic quality to these rippling grooves and silky sounds, which the duo credit to an obsession with water. After all, in their words, "we might not live by the ocean, but we're all H20 on the inside."

First physical format offering from Los Angeleno hypno-house producer and DJ Lexi Andre aka Etari is a tie-dyed hybrid of eco-tech dreaming and aerated rave energies, eight churning chill-out tent anthems, as suited for rainforests as rooftops. Recorded during long, loose 1 AM sessions at her home studio, Rainbow Eucalyptus exudes a mood of wonder and freefall, swirling strands of liquid synth, broken beats, and hypercolor smoke into emotive electric motion fantasias.

A self-taught DJ since the age of 16, Andre is a key figure in the Brazil-based label network Yellow Island, which issued her 2019 debut EP, Healing Herself, as well as hosting her exploratory monthly radio show, State Of Mind. The sound of Etari has honed by degrees, inspired by rare trees, cool air, and spiraling rhythm, equal parts expansion and embrace.
