Literally my first time DJing ever was on a boat. I recorded this set a week later as I didn't have a recorder on me on the boat. 

A little bit of hed kandi to start followed by all sorts of house. I didn't really follow one genre throughout neither did I give much of a shit about keys. I just went with it and had fun. Also, it was hot as t1ts.

The story of Paco Fernández is the story of Ibiza…He is universally associated with the beginning of the “Café del Mar” phenomenon, in which he played an important pioneering roll with his contribution to the creation of what is today known as “Flamenco Chill”. Hiis music being transformed by the years as the waves erode the coast of the this island that he chose to call home a long time ago…Like many other families of the 60s in Spain, the Fernandez clan left behind their origins in a small village of the mountains of Granada…The move represented a peregrination to a better life, and the relative freedom of a practically virgin island. The prosperity obtained was a prize for the effort of the full family, Paco included. He’d split his teenage days between school, guitar classes and night gigs in bars, where he played popular Spanish music in the company of a brother and a friend. It was the time of the first tourists, and another, yet stranger, creature…It was the day of the “peluts” (the hairy ones), “hippies” that brought new creative forms, in colourful opposition to the official culture of the day.This blooming of a new creativity marked the island, and also it’s inhabitants…

Paco’s restless spirit took him to Barcelona to study and attempt to find a “new voice” for his guitar. With prominent Jazz musicians of Barcelona, he recorded and released his first album, “Vivir en el Mediterráneo” (“To Live on the Mediterranean”). A second album, “Atman”, and his years of experimenting with style fusion, found fertile ground in the newfound “Chill-out” movement at the end of the 90s. in particular with the appearance of the “Café del Mar” phenomenon. Paco was the sole pioneer to blend a formula as passional as Mediterranean Flamenco, with the electronic sounds that so well defined the relaxed life on the shores of a friendly and calm sea. His songs for this collection as well as collaborations with a few prominent figures, gave way to a new project in 2003 with the album “Sal & Sol” (“Salt and Sun”), which included a band formed by 9 musicians that toured Europe, playing stages to large audiences…

His progression has taken him to our days through a long journey of exploration in sound…This road has crystallized in a band that not only combines Flamenco & Electronics, but also Rap and Caribbean sounds and dance in a fusion of Flamenco, Classic Contemporary Ballet & Break-dance. Such has been his success over the last 3 years, that his weekly concerts have become a mass phenomenon that attracts 1000 – 1500 people every week. His integration into club nights has been massively successful and filled venues to the brim. He has represented Ibiza all over Europe, harvesting massive crowd enthusiasm towards a show that is original, heartfelt, fresh and contemporary. In shows as memorable, and before audiences as different as Berlin, Madrid or Barcelona, he has transmitted the spirit of Ibiza to insatiable crowds, begging for more…

In this new project, Paco Fernández presents an unquestionably original “Mediterranean Flamenco” of his own creation, enrichened by the influences that surround and inspire him. He is the flagship of the fusion of soft Flamenco with influences from Arabian to Caribbean, with tendencies from Hip Hop to House. His last album, “ Entre Islas” (“Between Islands”), has been released on Paco’s own label, “Too Much Ibiza”, and displays the sentiment of the artist in harmony with his environment, Ibiza. Both the imagery of the booklet as well as the music reflect life on an island that is kind, passionate and colourful…….

La historia de Paco Fernández es la historia de Ibiza…su música transformándose con el paso de los años como las olas del Mediterráneo transforman la costa de esta isla, que hace ya largo tiempo se convirtió en su hogar… Al igual que muchas familias en la época de los 60, la familia Fernández dejó atrás su pueblo, una pequeña comunidad agrícola en la serranía de Granada…La mudanza representaba una peregrinación a una mejor vida, y a la relativa libertad de una isla prácticamente virgen. La prosperidad obtenida fue compensación del esfuerzo de toda la familia, y no menos de Paco... Repartía sus horas adolescentes entre los estudios de bachillerato, clases de guitarra Flamenca y noches en locales de ocio, desgranando los repertorios del momento en compañía de su hermano y un amigo.

Era la época de los primeros turistas y además otros nuevos peregrinos de aspecto extraño…Comenzaba el movimiento de los “peluts”, los “hippies” que traían a Ibiza una intensa curiosidad por encontrar nuevas formulas creativas en colorida oposición a la cultura oficial de la época. Este florecimiento de una nueva creatividad marcó a la isla, y no menos a sus habitantes…El espíritu inquieto de Paco le llevó a cursar estudios en Barcelona para encontrar una nueva voz para su guitarra, más allá de la funcionalidad turística. Con músicos prominentes de los círculos barceloneses, Paco publicó un primer álbum de nombre “Vivir en el Mediterráneo”.
Un segundo trabajo, “Atman”, y sus años de experimentar con la fusión de estilos, encontraron tierra fértil en el comienzo del movimiento “Chill-out” a final de los 90, en particular con la aparición del fenómeno “Café del Mar”. Paco fue pionero solitario en establecer la unión de la fórmula tan pasional domo su estilo Mediterráneo de Flamenco, con los sonidos electrónicos que tan fielmente representaban la vida relajada de su isla a las orillas de un mar amable. Sus temas para esta colección y sus numerosas colaboraciones con figuras de talla, dieron paso a un nuevo proyecto en el 2003 con el álbum “Sal y Sol”, que incluía una banda de 9 componentes que rodó por grandes escenarios a lo largo y ancho de Centro Europa, cosechando éxitos sonados ante públicos grandes…

La progresión le ha llevado a los días presentes, en un largo viaje de exploración… Este camino ha dado fruto en forma un espectáculo sólido de mano de una banda que combina, no solo la electrónica y el Flamenco, sino además el Rap, los ritmos Caribeños y el Baile mestizado del Flamenco, Clásico y Breakdance. Tal ha sido su éxito en Ibiza los últimos 3 años, que sus conciertos semanales se han convertido en punto de reunión obligada y un fenómeno social masivo…Su incorporación en las discotecas de la isla se saldaba con noches de “llenazos hasta la bandera”. Ha representado a Ibiza en diferentes eventos por toda Europa, cosechando enorme entusiasmo del público ante un espectáculo original, comprometido, fresco y actual. En actuaciones tan memorables, y ante públicos tan diferentes como los de Barcelona, Madrid o Berlín, ha transmitido el verdadero espíritu de Ibiza a grandes públicos insaciables, que no se cansaba de pedir más…

En su presente proyecto, Paco Fernández desarrolla el “Flamenco Mediterraneo” de sello personal y original indiscutible, enriquecido por las influencias que le rodean e inspiran. Es voz de un mestizaje de flamenco suave con influencias desde árabe hasta caribeño, con tendencias desde el Hip Hop hasta el House.

Es mundialmente asociado a los comienzos del Café del Mar, en el que jugaba un importante papel pionero en su aportación a la creación de lo que se conoce hoy como “Flamenco Chill”.
Su nuevo trabajo, “Entre Islas” se publica bajo el sello propio de Paco, “Too Much Music” y despliega el sentimiento de una artista en armonía con su entorno, Ibiza. Tanto las imágenes en la carpeta como música reflejan una vida isleña amable, placentera y de colores…..
