@alessio-bargiacchi is an Italian artist who’s been spinning records since he started his career in the early 90s. A committed electronic music enthusiast from Rome who has collaborated with several radio stations, produced his own tracks, been in charge of the music for theatrical projects and independent exhibitions, and of course, DJed at countless clubs.  For this 54th N2MU podcast, he offers a hybrid live and DJ set introducing us to his sound, a blend of IDM, electro, and dark electronic orchestrations with that engaging melancholy. Enjoy it!

1997 re-issue. He's been around for centuries and has a discography the length of the country he is living in. Meet Helge Tømmervåg from Norway. Most people know him only by his artist name: Mind over MIDI. Instead of the capital Oslo, Tømmervåg resides in Kristianssund, a tiny city near the west coast.

Since his techno excursions in the late nineties, Mind over MIDI has been a trustworthy beacon in the icey seas of Nordic techno and ambient. Nowadays, many of his records are extremely hard to find. So, this re-release of an early single on Utrecht based SoHaSo comes as a real treat.

 Artic Beats 2 originally came out in 1997 and contains four killer tracks which tick all the boxes for techno lovers: mysterious, melancholic music with subzero melodies and razor-sharp, frost bitten hi hats.

DJs will head straight for the pulsating trip that forms 'Do You Want This Body', while lovers of ice-cold moods head over to closer 'Dry Cool Place', which makes you wanna book a hotel room in the famous artic circle hotel straight away. Essential release for all those who take Nordic techno seriously.

Hailing from the industrial atmosphere of northern France and Belgian club culture, Jiman (@jiman-wax) came across Techno from its rawest side.

Obsessively focused on sound design, Jiman shaped his aesthetics around complex constructions, dubby textures and melancholic grooves. After few digital releases, his material was out on vinyl on Singular records directed by Marcelus, french Synchrophone’s sublabel Nowhere, Forsaken cell, Mize records, Listening blue and on his own label.
Since 2017 he manage Pærer records (@paerer), french label focusing in theexperimental face of techno. The 7th release of the label arrives at the end of the month and Jiman's second album at the end of the year.

'' Gladio Operations is back with a new release, their first to appear in 2021. On this occasion the UHF duo reactivate with this EP titled "Fact or Fiction", a body of work in which we once again discover different styles in their productions, something that is becoming a characteristic of the Spanish duo.
This EP opens with the track “Fact Or Fiction”, also the title of the EP, and where UHF gifts us with a steamroller of a track, with vertiginous drops and well accompanied by a masterful remix by the Romanian producer Andrew Red Hand, which converts it into a more emotional piece and highly influenced by the Detroit sound.

On the B side we encounter “Morning Glory”, a more atmospheric and enveloping cut,
accompanied by a fantastic 303-scented bass line. This track comes with another great
remix, this time by the French producer Jauzas The Shining, where he unveils a darker and deeper vision than the original cut.

The EP ends with “Like Bad At Things” a theme similar to IDM style, with an effective
mix of dark textures and melancholic melodies. ''

That's the fruit of four guys' collaboration : Jiman, Voice of Sylenth and Untitled Signal, who have the same state of mind, each have their own vision of music.
Influenced by the pioneers of Detroit, Berlin vibes and UK experiment, they aim to promote the experimental and powerful sides of techno music.

Sur les trente rêves qu’a du faire le jeune producteur techno lillois Jiman à l’orée de sa discographie, l’un sans doute était de monter un label de l’ambition et de l’envergure de Paerer. Une ambition qui, sur le papier, n’avait pourtant rien d’insurmontable : faire se joindre sous une même bannière les fractions d’une techno désormais affranchie de ses carcans passés, qu’ils soient dub, indus ou électronica. Autrement dit l’alchimie recherchée par tout label électronique, et à fortiori techno, qui se respecte peu avant les années 2020. Lancé en 2018, grâce à la passion partagée pour la production de Jiman et quelques un de ses amis, le jeune Paerer est l’enfant terrible de la scène techno française qui explosa au début de la dernière décennie. Un pied du coté de l’école de Birmingham (Regis, Surgeon) ou de l’EBM de Meat Beat Manifesto, l’autre dans les profondeurs dub de Basic Channel ou d’Echospace, le tout avec la folle envie d’expérimenter, le label présente un profil aux antipodes de ses contemporains et un esprit revêche qui le rend particulièrement sympathique. Sur la foie de quelques various bien sentis, aidés par des mentors et frères de sons comme Birth Of Frequency ou Pulse Code Modulation, la toute jeune structure, dont le logo rappelle méchamment celui d’une autre figure tutélaire de la scène électronique, commence à faire sérieusement parler d’elle. Mais cela était sans compter sur un contexte et une pandémie qui allaient rebattre radicalement les cartes, notamment pour les indépendants, balayer des labels aussi importants que le Stroboscopic Artefacts de Lucy et faire vriller toute la scène vers les sonorités pourtant décriées par le passé de la trance et du breakbeat 90’s. Aspiré malgré lui dans ce vortex dystopique, Paerer passe en peu de temps de rejeton prometteur à bastion des valeurs cardinales technoïdes.
