It’s a strange world we’re living in and these addictive cuts mirror it well.
Dancing all night in cheerful melancholy with two strictly limited edits. 

The A-side renders gothic synth pop at cruising tempo, spinning a web of tape delay as your mind unravels. A bassline throbs, pistons hiss and a paranoia takes hold of an icy vocal. Lose yourself in the otherwhere.

We step into a pristine wilderness on the B-side, stately pads gliding over a supple rhythm section while tender chimes tug at your heartstrings. Emotion abounds on an instrumental which never was. Big boys do cry, and this dove’s weeping over broken wings…

Strange World

Following up the much hyped Rhum Derange 7” Caravan’s third outing on Planet Trip is a ride through the cosmic wormhole. Always adept at translating past eras with meticulous production and a modern flair, Paul Jextra takes in the sounds of 90s afro-cosmic, acieed and deep downtempo for his most club ready record to date.

The EP is five end to end acidulated triiips complete with middle eastern rhythms, synth squelch and subbass pressure; primed to rattle bass minds and melt minds.

Life is full of wonder and excitement. Now it is also filled with the 14th release on Fasaan Recordings, produced by one of its founding fathers: part-time fruit picker Prins Emanuel. 

Gli Ornamenti comes in three different versions, which is nice. The U20 Mix is all about that sweet Roland U20 and offers us many of its decorative sounds. 
The Maximal Minimal Mix is the one to go to when you don’t want a lot of different stuff, but what you want you really want a lot of. 
The Ambient Mix is perfect to play while inspecting the grass growing under your apple tree. This is a good 12-inch single for the industrial balearic summers ahead.

Prins Emanuel - Gli Ornamenti... (Maximal Minimal Mix)

Following the success of Special Touch - Garden of Life, Heels & Souls Recordings kick off their 12” reissue series with an EP of digger delights from Frankfurt’s under-the-radar production trio of Manfred Holz, Michael Buchner and Jürgen Blömke, complete with a balearic remix from London duo, Good Block.

One side contains the instantly absorbing, late '80s electro nugget, 'Steal It An’ Deal It', from the aptly named The Soundstealers. Cruisin the slow lane at 100BPM, an idiosyncratic blend of samples, sound effects and percussive flourishes, underpinned by chest rumbling bassweight, guarantees dancefloor bedlam whether drawing for the dance or dub mix. 

On the flip you’re treated to obscure acid chugger ‘Amazonia’. Originally created for the opening credits of a ‘90s German nature documentary ‘Wunder Wildnis’ (seriously), the breakbeat-driven dance mix stomps through the undergrowth, acidic arps and pan flutes fizzing across the forest canopy. Heels & Souls pass the baton to London’s Good Block for the home stretch, the tropical twosome reworking the bassline and sprinkling some synth wizardry for a remix that grooves off over the horizon. 

These hard-to-find, pricey gems have been fully licensed from the trio, with weighty remasters courtesy of Cicely Balston. 20% of profits from Heels & Souls Recordings and Prime Direct Distribution will be donated to Papyrus, a UK charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide.
