Pain noir  is the solo project of Brooklyn-based composer Eric Cosentino. It is a sort of an attempt, a collage made possible by endless questions and old-fashioned  technologies like guitars, analog synthesizers and expensive little boxes. The purpose is to generate images by playing with contexts and elements. cut, paste, cut, paste. loop, loop, loop. Reverse? Sometimes it's working. Repetition? repetition.

Influences, to name a few: Robert Fripp, Emile Cioran, Tortoise, John Coltrane, Slayer, Alain Bashung, Bukowski, Angus Young, Fugazi, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, Adrian Belew, politics, Nina Simone, Led Zeppelin, Hermann Hesse, Alan Wilder, Nels Cline, Anselm Kiefer,  John Perkins, Improvisers and the ideas of Brian Eno.

Gran Inertia is a musical duo consisting of Eric Cosentino (g, v, electronics) and Jeff Angell (b, percussion, loops), who use original songwriting as a springboard to explore sonic possibilities using old and new technology. Reunited in 2019 after Jeff repatriated from living in Cameroon for 3 years where he performed and recorded with local musicians (including members of Youssou N'Dour's band) and Eric had been exploring and releasing electronic music with Harold Nono (Bearsuit Records), they began exploring percussive loops from Jeff's new rhythmic sensibilities and a suitcase full of instruments gathered in Africa. From there, they expanded their sound by incorporating Eric's evocative use of the guitar and electronics. The result is ever evolving.

Established in 1999, Carpark Records is an independent record label based in Washington DC.
