Q&A with nightwork:

1. What inspires you to mix/make music?
I draw a lot of inspo from mysticism, nature, anime, and poetry. I’m a bit of a hermit so I’m often most inspired when I’m out hiking solo or driving alone at night. That being said I do have a very special, encouraging circle of friends, so they’re always a source of inspo too.

2. Are you looking forward to anything in 2021 in regards to your creative activities?
I’m planning on making a video or two for tracks off my latest EP, so that’ll hopefully be out soon. I have ideas brewing for new tracks and mixes too. Overall though my focus for 2021 is to get myself out there more and take myself a bit more seriously as an artist.

22-year-old, Berlin-based Benjamin Led (aka BEAN) began making music aged 15 using a cracked copy of Ableton he found on his brother's laptop. With influences spanning from Arca to Rachmaninow, the artist has taken to reshaping classical music techniques into electronic music - with some wildly impressive results. His second release on the LA-based label TAR, his 'PSYCHO' EP smashes together frenzied elements of ambient and trance in a wholly transcendental way - with more than a few hints of Evian Christ, doon kanda, and the aforementioned auteur, Arca. EE3 is a suggestive succession of strangely assembled pieces of micromondo miscellanea as small bizarre objects and surreal items right for Artetetra’s continuously metastasizing outré wunderkammer. 

A showcase of heterogeneous materials that cover an entire imaginal ecosystem going from the grotesque to the hazy, to the hypnagogic and absurd til the utterly whimsical; often resulting in non-linear audio experiences with humoristic and paradoxical outcomes. Abstract exotica, amphibian footwork, compositional audio-jokes, brutal counterpoint metal, aquatic sci-fi shredding, steel-cold cognitive fado, glossolalia madrigals, metaphysical hip-hop, sunitty conglomerations, abrasive warfare cartoon OSTs. All and all, let’s just call it Quinto Mondo.
