Luckily Bern is filled with good artists and that`s why I found Mastra. He`s very implemented into the Swiss scene and based in Bern. He has a nice and unique sound which goes more in the Dub and minimal genre. A perfect fit for this Podcast. I`m happy to have him in the show.

Bio:
Ever since he can remember, DJ Mastra has had a fascination for sounds and the ways in which they can be produced. After a short phase as a drummer in a punk band, Stefan Willenegger aka DJ Mastra discovered the turntable. As a thirteen year-old in the early nineties his passion for DJing quickly took hold and he relished the electonic dance music capturing the scene at the time. Because of his young age and therefore barred from parties, Stefan spent the time mixing cassettes which he later sold to finance new records.

And so it continued for several years until Nik Leuenberger stepped into his life and things began to change. They got to know each other in 94 through one of Stefans tapes - Nik saw the great potential in the young DJs talent and booked him for small parties under the label Bomb E which focused on the typical acid sound of the time. Mastras reputation began to grow and he was soon known throughout the Bernese party scene. Later in 99, Mastra landed his first major gig at the Club Yellow in Zürich, which in those days was a venue in a Supermarket. He impressed both the organizers and the public and soon became a popular fixture on Yellows agenda. That same year Mastra was booked at the legendary Tresor in Berlin...what was to be one night turned out to be five.

Various gigs in Brazil followed in 2002 where Stefan performed with DJ Girl. During this time DJ Mastra was developing his skills as a producer. And his contact with Marco Repetto gave him the encouragement to deepen his knowledge of sound programming and sequencing. The Electronic Ceremony events of Nik Leuenberger and Severin Aegerter worked as a catalyst for Stefan. Apart from gaining valuable experience he was also brought closer to the Inzec crew. On The Electronic Ceremony compilation (inzec 011) a collaboration between EC and Inzec Records DJ Mastra made his successful debut with the profound track Funkasie. His ties to Inzec intesified and after the mutual listening through many tracks, ideas began to form for a solo record. An agreement was reached and in February 04 the Foyer EP (018) was released featuring four of Stefans tracks. In the meantime further plans have been made for the project Trauma Duo together with Sandro Ambrosi. Their music moves in the sphere of Electro-Ambient and will surely have an impact on Stefans CV.

Van Did est définitivement l'un des producteurs électroniques les plus accomplis au Canada.

Son expertise liée à la conception sonore, l'électro-acoustique et les nouvelles techniques de traitement du signal est palpable dans tous les aspects de ses créations,
autant dans la complexité des textures sonores que dans la création d’espaces multidimensionnelles.

Avec des productions signées sur des maisons de disques internationales et prestigieuses, notamment Herzblut de Stephan Bodzin et Sudbeat de Hernan Cattaneo.

Il fonde, en 2011, sa propre maison de disques Grrreat Recordings.
En 2015, il co-fonde 8day, un projet d’équipe, basé à Montréal, axé sur l'organisation de nombreux événements de musique électronique et la promotion de plusieurs artistes de qualité.

En plus de gérer 8day et Grrreat Recordings, il tourne constamment dans le monde entier en mixant des morceaux mélodiques dans une atmosphère soignée, à la Van Did, acclamé dans de nombreux clubs et festivals renommés.

Depuis dix ans déjà, Van Did joue au Canada, en France, en Allemagne, au Royaume-Uni, en Belgique,
au Japon, en Italie et au Mexique, dans des festivals reconnus à travers le monde aux côtés d’artistes tels que Agoria, Carl Craig, Dominik Eulberg, Kevin Saunderson, Nina Kraviz, N'To, Rone et Stephan Bodzin.

Ses productions sont jouées par Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed et Applescal, pour n'en nommer que Quelques-uns.

Global Beatz and Electronic Grooves since 2005

Munich based DJ and Producer Pakobeatz has been active in the cosmic disco scene for more than fifteen years now. Describing his sound as a "global tasting cocktail", he found his own style that reflects his varied interests in music. 
All kinds of influences, among them African rhythms, Brazil beats, house, disco, funk and electronic music, find their way into both his DJ sets and productions, creating something that is uniquely its own. 

After contributing a remix to the Midnight Dream EP published in 2010, his debut "From Earth to Space" was released on Beatz for Freakz Recordings in early 2012. It includes two originals - Dynamic Earth and Dynamic Space, hence the title - and two remixes by DJ Zeyhan and Vaan, both of them prolific producers themselves. Other releases followed like "Morgentau" and „Sound of Underground“, featuring the beautiful vocals of singer Nejma.

Since 2007 he is a member of Beatz for Freakz, a group of music lovers and DJs who have made it to their mission to create urban free spaces and bring some funk on the streets of Munich. Under the motto a party can be everywhere, Beatz for Freakz is hosting special events for special moments in all kind of weird locations, from old train bunkers to forests and bridges, there are no limits. 

In 2019 he joined the Bavarian online radio station RADIOBAV as an artist and extending the program with his Globalectric Soundselection Series. 

As a DJ, Pakobeatz is known for his energetic, driving sets that have served for many an ecstatic night on the dancefloor.
Over the years he has played in different locations like Postgarage Graz, Backstage, Babalu, Die Bank, Senatore Bar, BMW World, Stustaculum Festival and many many more.
