It all began with a bag of weed in Monterrey. Thomas Von Party and Daniel Maloso jamming in the studio, emerging with an idea that took the form of a lucid dream that could not only be tamed, but shared. Maloso, the Mexican Bruce Wayne, inspired TVP to reimagine his favourite 60s TV theme song as a punchy Chicago party jam. The demo was later arranged in Montreal by genius UK-pop icon Kane West (of Kero Kero Bonito fame), with the vocals redone by Wolf & Lamb protegé and self-proclaimed sex addict (to be confirmed) Pony. The completed track found its way into the hands of a random few DJs (Chaim and Thomass Jackson, among others) who gave it cult-like status by dropping it in their sets to the frustrated delight of shazam'ers the world over. Two years later, the naff vibe has matured to a fully ripened state, finally dropping on Easter Fool's Day, 2018.

Following last year's 'Kiyadub' EP, Andrew Weatherall returns to Byrd Out later this month with a brand new 12". Having invited his mate Andy Bell (y'know, him out of Ride) round to his studio to buy a Les Paul, Andrew suggested that he test the guitar out over a track he was working on, which then became the b-side here 'Making Friends With The Invader'.

We're very happy to be premiering the title track 'Blue Bullet', a trippy, dubbed-out construction with a surprisingly affecting melody which tunnels under your skin and refuses to leave.

“It’s not easy to be free, but it’s harder not to be”.These are the first words to Bad Woman, Céline Gillain’s debut LP on DRAMA.

I’ve never had that many difficulties writing a text for a release. There were easy ways of dealing with it actually, like isolating some of the lyrics and making aphorisms out of them that would have punctuated the text. I could have also wrote about her music with hackneyed words and glamorous comparisons with the likes of Laurie Anderson or Leslie Winer.

Maybe is it because it summons the influence of artists that have been crucial in our lives, maybe is it because of the ambition and the absolute sincerity emanating from this record, maybe is it also because of the utter contemporaneity of the record… but I feel stuck.

So I will only say a couple of things. If the idea of an LP following her debut 7″ on Lexi Disques gets you as excited as we were and still are, you won’t be disappointed by Bad Woman. The music on the upcoming album definitely is pop music, but in a disturbing, beyond « good » and « bad » taste kind of way.

It sometimes feel as if Bad Woman has been written by a former Pop diva that saw her expectations being shattered by life and now tries to make her come-back with a new album, influenced by what she believes to be contemporary pop music. The thing is, the result is a mutant blend of everything and anything that has been produced by the music industry these last 30 years, from Cher’s delirious come-back in the 1990’s to the most embarrassing moments in Dance music, and it rather sounds like a record that would have been written in a parallel universe.

That being said, Bad Woman tackles painful issues about our lives as individuals and society but with absolute elegance. After months of being the only one able to listen to it, no need to say that Zaltan & I are now extremely proud and happy to see this record coming to life. Thank you Céline for untrusting with taking care of your album.

Walking along the beach he looked out into the distance and began to ponder the significance of this place, the history and the horror. The waves had come crashing down upon the shore with such weight and presence that they'd left the coast battered and a mess. It was the stuff of nightmares, a true behemoth of a storm which has left a broken nation and a town awash with debris. Nowadays you'd hardly recognise the impact of the storm, it had been long since cleaned up but the memories lived on. 

Qnete is set to release a new EP on X-Kalay, a record label which is widely respected and well loved amidst the oddball corners of house, techno and electro. The label has risen to prominence in recent years. Qnete is a Leipzig based producer set to release a fiery dancefloor focused bomb with the imprint.

Both Katerina and Rizu X have created their own language and imaginary space, taking shape as tracks that are intended, as Rizu X puts it, “to incite people to dance or meditate”. This time, Katerina brings us two haunting tracks: the abstract future jazz anthem “Bizarro World” and the acidic descarga of “Pinocchio” – whereas Rizu X offers us three post-techno fantasies she created in her hometown at the US - Mexican border between Laredo (TX) and Nuevo Laredo.

‘Bufebe' is the name of the newest EP from Mexican producer Bufi and mysterious Lille producer Kubebe, member of the electronic band, Volcan La Peté.

This new work consists of 5 original tracks and was created completely online. During these last months the producers took turns and shared files to work on the tracks projects, which are inspired by birds, bicycles and insects.

The EP is a mix of organic and synthesized percussions, drowsy and mysterious melodies and psychedelic landscapes, creating an amazing jungle of sounds. The cover was made by Parisian artist Anne-Marie Gratton.
