Let´s be frank, the story of Bien was quite unfascinating, but hopefully very short. It all started when Pascale, the former sweet voice of Mikado (a french duet who enjoyed a big success in Japan and a smaller one in France) decided to go solo and sent lyrics to long time friends and brothers Vincent and Bertrand whose musical background was close to zilch.
It took a little time to convince Pascale to form a new band with just a few songs and no name (but Panama was a serious contender).

Later on, it was clear for the brothers that their music was missing a guitar. They immediately recruited on the street (true fact) their guitarist who happened to be their cousin and accidentaly an inventive cocktail maker and the judo champion of Ivory coast (true fact).

And then they were 4 and called Panama. A few songs and names later (Val d´Isère. Cesta Punta), Vincent came up with the definitive Bien.

We were in Spring 96. The weather was fine, their first demo tape was reviewed in the trendy french magazine "Magic" and attracted the attention of a spanish label (siesta) for which they have recorded a 4 song single aptly called "Maxi". We are in spring 97. Time flies by…

So to recap:

Pascale wrote the lyrics either in french or english (because she has got a very strong artistic sensitivity), rides her bycicle in the sunny streets of Paris and sings the music of the brothers:

- Bertrand whose dream besides being a rich and famous ageing "Rockstar" was to be a professional rugby player despite his age.

- And Vincent who was clearly the Brian Wilson of the band - less the psychological troubles - would rather live in NY, Barcelona than Paris maybe because he is fluent in Portuguese.

And Arnaud, whose talents were as diverse as the look changes of Madonna, Plays the guitar.

What Bien does like about Spain? Baccara (the female group-forget the Spice Girls-not the gambling game), Ivan for "Fotonovela", the "Osborne" bull and Parador-hotels…Yes, definitely Parador-hotels. .
