Greek artist 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮 debuts on 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - 知覺 with his first solo release for the label’s 14th EP. The album consists of three originals and a remix by rising Italian talent, Phill Prince.

From the beginning, the dancefloor is already calling. The opening track “𝘐 𝘔𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘔𝘺 𝘍𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵” starts with a glow of tropical percussion, drums that roll with warmth and sway, followed by a bassline that feels round and alive, moving in harmony with the rhythm.

The turning point arrives with a synth line shaped in an oriental scale, pulling the track into a more mysterious space. Hints of the desert surface too, with textures that shimmer and suggest distance, yet the steady drum work keeps everything firmly bound to the floor. What unfolds is a journey from warmth and openness into intrigue and mystique.

Falsa Magra ─ I Missed My Flight [PRCP014]

As proprietors’ of the Will & Ink label, Yaleesa Hall & Malin Genie have been maintaining a busy and consistent release schedule of top notch techno sounds, largely releasing their own, well received, productions.  The duo appeared on Hypercolour’s “10 Years” compilation in 2016 with the excellent “Buchan Trap”, and we’ve been blessed to secure a full single release with the on-point pair.

The mechanical funk of “Artin” swings with plenty of assured groove; the shuffling hats, dense kicks and dubby stabs that ping pong across this fierce production mark this out as a real killer cut.

Dario & Marco Zenker, AKA the Zenker Brothers, take time out from their busy Ilian Tape operations to remix “Artin” into a brutal yet funky techno goliath.  Congas perpetually roll forward, with frenetic 909 hats and raw and ready stabs in what may well be one of the Zenker’s finest remixes to date. 

The essence of funk continues in Hall & Malin’s music, with “Cahen”, a great slab of compelling techno that never slips too far into darkness, instead keeping an ever evolving groove and some abstract drone like synthesis to keep the mood buoyant.

Wrapping up the release is “Brown”, a track that finishes as urgently as it starts, perhaps with a cap doffed to the Purpose Maker sounds of a certain Jeff Mills, but broadening the palette to allow some trippy sound architecture and an effective breakdown mid way through.

Modern day techno supplied by a duo that will most certainly flourish over the coming months, Yaleesa Hall & Malin deliver the goods aplomb on this Hypercolour single.

London based @Hyasynthe pulls up slowly building delight, Aurora. Particles shuttle around in the upper atmosphere, causing reddish and green hues to dance, all as that same sample loops over and over, building, waxing and waning. How can the producers use of Ableton 10, 808’s and your own heartstring have such an effect on the magnetic pole of the earth? we're completely unsure. 

We never thought something with so emotionally driven, and many hued could be birthed from someone hailing from Milton Keynes; what some call the Jewel of the Buckinghamshire heartland, but most consider the complete antithesis. Opposites attract, we suppose but this sonic sonnet is one to be saved, that’s for sure.

After a debut 12" late 2019 on the London based imprint Delusions Of Grandeur, Larry Quest comes back for a third release on Log Records. 'Be:Quest' is a single with two versions bouncing off each other celebrating the Rave subculture going back and forth between the US and Europe over the past decades.

The 'Gateway Mix' is tinted with the breathing character of the mid 1980s Chicago Acid House and conveys a serious punch with its strong Jacking bass line topped up with hazy pads and keyboards. Shake the core of the track with a 2-Step tweak on the beat with warped and throbbing sounds and you get the 'Garage Mix' bearing the absorbing flavours of the 1990s London genre binding late hours.
