very beautiful playing.  by coincidence, my wife and i just returned from our first trip to perth last night.  What a wonderful city and the Margaret River region was fantastic (although ironically a lot like Texas where we are from...)  Anyway, great playing!

Lost Tribe Sound presents The Phonometrician’s, ’El Mar Convertido en Oceano,’ an EP of minimal yet highly expressive songs focused on the acoustic guitar. Many who enjoyed the brighter side of Carlos Morales (aka The Phonometrician) 2019 debut album ‘Mnemosyne’ will find a lot to love with ‘El Mar Convertido en Oceano.’

While LTS tends to stay rooted in sounds more apt for the fall and winter climates, after a long year and half we welcomed the chance to release something a bit more uplifting, at ease, even summery if you will. Morales leans into the oceanic, cyclical nature of these pieces, allowing the fingerpicked melodies to convey transformation through a smooth continuous flow. It’s a metamorphosis that can feel quite calm on the surface, knowing full well that stronger, more aggressive undercurrents may lie below.

’El Mar Convertido en Oceano’ serves as a warm reminder of the emotion Morales is capable of with very few instruments at play. It also provides an adapted glimpse at some of the many works for film he has composed over the last few years. The EP also makes us eager for things to come from The Phonometrician, as Morales has hinted that new full-length material is taking shape.

Seven Lions - Days To Come (Rogue Remix)

The track Is inspired by a famous artwork by sculptor Giacomo Manzù "the Painter and the Model" which was commissioned by an important Italian art gallery called "Raccolta Lercaro". The track is about the alchemy that is generated between a Model and the Painter who is portraying her, uniting the senses, creating a dance in a parallel dimension that is exclusive to them. The music uses a technique that mixed sampled and recorded done, and it lies between neoclassical post-minimal music and ambient music.

Il brano trae ispirazione da una famosa opera d’arte dello scultore Giacomo Manzù “Il pittore e la Modella”, commissionato da un importante galleria d’arte Italiana, “Raccolta Lercaro”. 
Il brano racconta dell’alchimia che si genera tra la modella e il pittore nell'atto di ritrarla, creando un unione di sensi, una danza in una dimensione parallela che appartiene solo a loro due. La musica utilizza una tecnica mista tra suoni campionati e suoni reali, è borderline tra la musica neoclassica post-minimale e l’ambient music.

About Me:
Had my first piano - a Yamaha C108 acoustic upright - and piano lessons when I was seven. Six years later, I was made to quit, so I left the piano and went on to mix records with a mobile disco I co-founded as a teenager. Became a school teacher, and now teaching classical piano privately. My focus is on music interpretation, tone production and technique. 

My other interests and areas of studies are philosophy, sociology, writing, cosmology, quantum mechanics, and reading. My greatest inspirations are J.S. Bach, Kant, Nietzsche, and Einstein (wow, I just realised they're all Germans).
