Exclusive: Superpitcher - Lush Life feat. Fantastic Twins

He’s back. He’s back with some lush music. He’s back with his Lush Life single. Aksel Schaufler alias Superpitcher, a Kompakt mainstay, the co-label head of Hippie Dance, one part of the Pachanga Boys and known as the ambassador of the golden rave days, debuts on the Live At Robert Johnson label with a two tracker as golden as the twelve ravey chapters he’s put out on his own label. Lush Life, the EP’s eponymous track, features French-Berliner Fantastic Twins’ for the vocals, and comes in as Superpitcher-esque on the one hand and quite different on the other. The almost ten minute lasting track is probably a typical Superpitcher feature, what is new though, is the selection of sounds and the result in general. Aksel created an utterly atmospheric take, which flows by as fast as the rave-days, and takes its listeners back to the days when Francois K delivered dubby House music takes per excellence, just like Superpitcher does now himself. Peaceful almost spiritual and endearing are traits that describe the emotional components the track evokes in its listeners with a Julienne Dessagne, Fantastic Twins real name, delivering those charming vocals that hunt you through the night and over the floors.

Superpitcher's single Lush Life will be released on Live At Robert Johnson on February 18th, 2022.

`Planet Hase´ unfolds very smooth with a deeper kick drum unleashing a bunch of chopped samples from the original tune that are mizzling around the magical, slowly rising theme. Mano's voice presents itself in some surprising moments in the middle of the track. The happy-melancholic title theme that you indulge in over 10 minutes is over faster than you can eat a vegan ice cream at 40 degrees by the lake.

Cologne party MY DEAR feels like the logical extension of Kompakt's ornate minimalist techno—you can hear it on the promoter's self-titled compilation, which MY DEAR founder Denis Stockhausen describes as "dream dance and pop techno only." There are a number of highlights, but Robag Wruhme's track as Bogdan Marx edges the rest out just slightly. The German producer is a natural at this kind of stuff. His windswept electro cut "Orugo Major" has just the right amount of melodrama, with dubby stabs and growling LFO wobbles painting a picture of a pleasant but empty landscape. It's the kind of repetitive rhythm that's easy to get sink into and get lost in despite its advanced tempo and clacking drums. By the time the vocals float in during the track's faucet-drip breakdown, if you aren't hooked, well, then maybe this kind of dream dance isn't for you.

For this single Cobblestone Jazz joined by friend, bandmate and hypnotic discotheque collagist The Mole.
Hip Waders comes from one of the group’s long studio sessions, and this gem of a jam was laid to tape after a couple days of playing. Usually the group likes to set the studio up first (tuning the room, picking their instruments and setting up the patch bay), before exploring and recording musical ideas over the rest of the week. Although bouncing along at 120bpm, Hip Waders still strides into deep waters, courtesy of jazzy, tremolo chords that ripple across its skittish electronic groove, which constantly unfolds across a full 13 minutes.

On `Wespennest´ the wonderful Sophia Kennedy takes the stage and breathes a new dimension into the music with her impactful lyrics and vocals. With generous dedication, Sophia has provided exclusive excerpts of her yet unreleased songs, giving this track a radiant psychedelic power. The combination of DJ Kozes musical genius and Sophia Kennedy's glorious vocals creates a club track full of wonderment, opening up a mystical rapturous world for listeners.
