This album follows intergenerational trauma, fugitives of Christian violence in a twilight called Puruma, returning to Mama Cocha, the sea that theorists call Nowhere.

Dedicated to the life of Paul Sousa, who while incarcerated, worked years as an inmate firefighter across the Sierra Nevada of California. Also dedicated to the work of Sage LaPena and Dr. Gretel Mendizabal Nolte. (Includes misreadings of Jimenez, Saenz, Claudel, & Wright).

Not one, not world, not body, not god, not salvation, not zero; only a ceaseless approaching toward, with, and as the great mystery, by Grace, Tatamama. Jallalla.

ORCORARA 2010 was comissioned and released in 2018 by Centre d’Art Contemporain, Geneva, CH for the first floor at the Biennale de l’Image en Mouvement 2018 ‘The sound of screens imploding’.

The album is mastered by Jeremy Cox.

All proceeds go to the American Indian Movement West/ AIM SoCal chapters.

Décalé Records and Bongo Joe Records present an all new compilation placing the spotlight on the Swiss experimental and electronic scene of the ‘80s and the early ‘90s. The compilation Intenta assembles under-appreciated gems, sought-after titles and newly mixed versions. It places leftfield synth-pop next to otherworldly jazz, and joins the dots between lyrical post-punk excursions and proto-house experimentation.

The compilation covers a period of transition: When songs mutated into sounds. When synthesizers and samplers became the règle du jeu in DIY music-making. When a politicized youth movement slowly gave way to the hedonistic embrace of techno culture in Switzerland. Intenta mines the outer fringes of a scene yet to be. Many of these experimenters were pretty much on their own. Often the only way you would get in touch was at the local synth dealer.

A spirit of bold improvisation inhabited studios between Geneva and St. Gallen: these artists were articulating pop sensibilities (Air Project, Sky Bird, D-Sire, Peter Philippe Weiss), entering computer worlds (Claudine Chirac, Olivier Rogg, Carlos Perón), exploring exotic shores (Andreas Hofer, Bells of Kyoto, Fizzè), building future discothèques (Aborted at Line 6, Carol Rich, UnknownmiX) or finding glacial bliss (Dressed Up Animals, Elephant Château, I Suonatori).

The compilation was put together by Matthias Orsett and Maxi Fischer. Intenta unfolds as a sonic story that is laid-back yet energetic, sultry yet daring. The two crate diggers set out to meet with many of the artists arrayed here. Memories were shared, wine bottles opened. There were moments of sadness: Karl Lienert Löwenherz (Dressed Up Animals) and Claudius Scholer (Sky Bird) passed away during the making of this project. What remains of this journey into the backrooms of Swiss popular culture, is Intenta. If you listen closely, it will reveal a nation on the move. Beyond the Matterhorn, there is sweetness and light.

Cette œuvre aspire à apprivoiser les textures organiques et électriques du son. Une tâche complexe qui nécessite un processus long. Ces 5 fragments en sont la première étape. Percussions et bleeps suintent de la sieste ambiante créée par sunnboo et ses appareils. Le mouvement du son est similaire de piste en piste. Pourtant la perception de l'auditeur est remodelée.

This work aspires to tame the organic and electric textures of sound, but not reached yet. The first step of the process is released through this five figments. Drums and bleeps ooze from the ambient nap generated by sunnboo and his appliances. The motion of sounds between tracks is not so much different, however our perception is reshaped.

When we came up with the concept for this year’s mixtape about a year ago, we would have never imagined that we will be releasing it in such a sad and painful context.

Deceit, as understood by us and as presented to the artists invited to participate on this album, was as much about fairy-tales and playful trickery as about fake news, lies and uncertainty. In the light of current events in the US and in Poland, our personal interpretation of this album unfortunately now rings closer to the latter topics. The prevalent hate speech, lies spread by national media, violation of human rights and outright crimes condoned by those in power – all of that makes the release of this mixtape much more bitter. That is why we’ve decided that we will be donating all of the proceeds from this album towards Aborcja Bez Granic organisation. Right now, Poland has the strictest abortion laws in the European Union and is looking to increase the restrictions.

Furthermore, we highly encourage you to donate to various funds set up to help protesters in the US, the list can be found here: ujeb.se/NmEn7. We will not use this album description to elaborate on our stance on the issues of systemic racism nor will we say more about the artistic content of this album, because we really do not want to make it about ourselves as the situation both the US and in Europe is far more important than any music. However, we want it to be clear: we are all against cherry picking black culture as our scene would not exist without black music and we will be educating ourselves and our listeners about the roots of the culture that we all benefit from and are fortunate enough to be a part of. BAS stands with all those protesting against racism, oppression, violence, social inequality and police brutality.

Maltash is J. Jadam, a core member of Avril Spleen (@avrilspleen) who on this debut release fused a sick concoction of deconstructed dance music, darkwave punk and metal(s).
