James Whipple returns from a long period of musical dormancy with his first full length LP for PAN since 2017.

As M.E.S.H., he honed a singular and unpredictable sonic identity on his debut album Piteous Gate. Re-emerging as Hesaitix, the now-familiar motifs have become streamlined, the sound palette both more refined and more elaborate. Even at its most abstract, there is an uncanny presence permeating the record, a convincing emotional reality with its own narrative and spatial logic.

Opener ‘Cusp of Unknowing’ announces itself with crushing low end synths feathered with delicate chimes before dissolving into the oceanic din of a data center. Rolling, engine-like subs mark the start of ‘Taurian Shade,’ a low- tempo percussive drive past iced-over chords and angular synth lines. ‘Geflatnet’ and ‘Volunteer’ dip into grooves bordering on nostalgic, referencing a misremembered golden era of electronica long-players. On ‘Santarosae (Black Dolphin),’ a sense of primordial awe comes to the fore, while ‘Black Line,’ originally presented as an audio installation in 2022, uses the human voice to explore a narrative approach to sound. ‘Noctian Airgap’ and ‘Anticrime’ return to syncopation and its complex moods, while ‘Subdermal’ and ‘Hypersea’ embrace repetition in service to atmosphere.

All I Want Is Peace

“Softer hands” introduces a reality where art-electronics emerge from familiar club language. Sentimental melodies spray delicate feelings over metallic, hypnotising backgrounds. Distant, angelic choirs are softly moulded and shaped by whirring mechanical sounds, hisses and swooshes. Over time, the music leads inward, letting light through densely packed soundscapes. The result is touching, otherworldly, at times uncanny or post-apocalyptic, like an ensemble of machines learning to feel. The circle of three remixers perfectly understands the language cratje operates in, adding to the universe created within four original tracks.

Released nine years ago, this album captured a moment of intense individuation - an attempt to resolve the conflict of polarities through creative alchemy: the conscious and the unconscious, Pagan roots and Christian mysticism, primordial Chaos and divine Structure.
This internal process was mirrored in the transformation of the Infinity Base Cross (the alchemical Sulfur). The music and art became a "sigil," a vessel wherein these contradictions were transmuted into unity.

The album marked the activation of a 9-year cycle, rich in metamorphosis and research. This period resonates with the astrological Lunar Node half-return - a karmic checkpoint for recalibrating one's path. The reissue symbolizes the completion of the old program and the beginning of a new spiral.

The David Lynch aesthetic in the reissue teaser is a tribute to profound synchronicity. It was his work that originally served as the catalyst, opening the portal to the unconscious and making this album possible. The circle closed with the appearance of a White Owl in my dream one week before the Master’s passing. Now, these guides between worlds accompany me throughout this year, confirming that the time of transition has truly arrived.
