Montréal-based musician and composer Kara-Lis Coverdale gives concerts made for full body immersion, multi layered through multi timbral synths, her computer a virtual organ engine. Couched in symphonic, post sacred tonalities and harmonies, the music on Coverdale’s releases Aftertouches (on Sacred Phrases) and A 480 (on Constellation Tatsu) uses virtual sounds from vocal and instrumental sources to confront traditional genres and consolidate them in the artist’s own precise ways. Currently an organist and music director at St. John’s church in Montréal, Coverdale contributed piano and keyboards on friend and mentor Tim Hecker’s Virgins album in 2013 and most recently has collaborated with LXV (musician David Sutton) on their 2015 album, released by Umor Rex. Her live set for MUTEK 2015 draws on that album and recent compositions of pipe organ, sensorial electronics and glittering drones while leaving room for inspired improvisation.

Over a decade of releases, Darren Cunningham has built a reputation as a fine creator of cerebral abstract techno, or R&B concrète, crafting pulsing kickdrums, jittering percussion and chopped sample loops into churning, rumbling tracks soaked in static. The founder of Werk Discs has flitted between electro, hip hop, house and techno, never once ceasing to excite and innovate. His most recent project, the finely curated Boiler Room and the London Contemporary Orchestra collaboration saw him debuting freshly made, brooding electronica alongside the renowned classical group.

"Margaret Dygas’ position as an avant garde techno producer has been achieved with only three proper releases to her name but backed up by years of formidable DJ sets around the world. Born in Poland, she spent her formative teenage years growing up in America and now, like so many other dance music producers, lives in Berlin. Her exquisitely executed tracks have been released on Contexterrior, Non Standard Productions and Perlon, each showing a progression in her abilities and slowly revealing a distinctive type of sound. LWE hoped to learn much more about the budding artist in our interview but it turns out that Miss Dygas prefers to let her music do the majority of her talking. Read on for the words we managed to glean out of her and check the stunning podcast after the interview for a more revealing glimpse into the world of Margaret Dygas."
