Astraltopia is the third and final compilation in the Topia series, as well as the terminal release in the Astral Plane Recordings catalog. Made up of contributions from longtime APR artists and friends, Astraltopia traverses outgrowths of past label releases, novel sonic formulations and the infra-zones between and underneath extant club sounds. Accompanied by artwork from Sam Meier and mastering by Will Mitchell, the compilation follows 2012’s Heterotopia and 2015’s Psychotropia, both of which preceded the formal inauguration of Astral Plane Recordings. The 36th release of katharsis is the EP “be there” by Belgian artist leop4rdi, coming out on September 4th. Throughout its six tracks, the artist shows off his unique blend of granular synths, etheric vocals, emo guitar riffs, and smashing rocky drums. This infusion of his cute kitsch vibes with obscure spiritual icons and cryptic intelligence results in a unique aesthetic represented on the artwork created by label boss jjjacob.

The EP is the second full release by the Brussel-based artist, following his stellar EP “a process of learning and understanding” on the magnificent label and collective Soul Feeder in January this year. His alternative approach and very personal style shine through on “be there” as well, the titles of the tracks representing intuitive associations from the artist's mind.

Three singles were premiered prior to the full release, "Out Of My Skin" - a beautiful sonic journey of emotive acoustic guitar, bit-crushed vocal wails, playful synths, and powerful percussion, secondly the downtempo & bouncy though aggressively distorted track "Focus!" with a feel of melancholic overtones and struggling attention, and thirdly the deeply melancholic ballad "Essence" starting with acoustic guitar chords and poignant vocal chops but ending with hard drums and overdriven synths.

‘Motion’ is the new EP release on PAN’s sublabel CODES from Belgian producer SKY H1.

Having previously collaborated with producers and collectives such as Bala Club and Creamcake, Brussels-based SKY H1 has since performed at the likes of multi-media 3HD Festival and Amsterdam’s Sonic Acts to high acclaim for her distinctly forward-thinking sound.

Drawing from a background of widely-varying musical tastes from Ambient to Grime, her own work is an amalgamation of emotive compositions of orchestral Elysian synths, often displaced with sparse percussive elements.

The new record, ‘Motion’ is a highly personal endeavour, constructed from the results of a turbulent time - where she describes it as ‘a flash of her emotional state over the last few months’. “It signi-fies leaving behind a period in my life and stepping into something new.” She explains.

Moving through bleak soundscapes layering vaporous choral synths, ethereal vocals and glassy, lucid tones crafted in complex structures, the record bears moments of melancholy as well as joy on tracks like ‘Tell Me’ and ‘I Think I Am’. “It's about going through the different stages of grief and accepting the positive effects the loss of someone can have on you.” She says. “It's about experiencing an intensely emotional time with a lot of ups and downs, and I think this is transparent in the way the tracks are ordered.”.
