Long beach born and raised came out to the bird city in 05 applied my cali state of mind to this city and have succeeded thus far. Started producing music about a year ago and have continued to hear nothing but positive responses. My goal is to apply my love for music and thirst for a better life to my work and help me get to a point where I live happily and my people live happily with me. Im striving to put out a product that shows quality and a sense of life that many people can relate to. Never in my life did I think that this would be my calling but I have come to learn that I have a passion for my music that surpasses anything else I have ever done in my life. I put everything I have into this dream and I will make it happen with or without anyones support. So now that you know a bit about me take a listen to what im putting out into this world and feel free to share with anybody you know.

Kanoa Gaudreault, artistically known as Velvet K.O., is a Canadian-born German/Bermudian, pop and hip hop musician residing in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada. Since his debut in October 2020, Velvet has released nine singles amassing over 300,000 streams.

Kanoa was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to a mother and father who were both musically inclined. At the age of five, Kanoa and his family moved to Brighton, Ontario, Canada where he spent a majority of his childhood. In the late 1980’s Peter Gaudreault (father) and Natalie Eickhoff (mother) were both working professional dancers for the famous Le Ballet Jazz de Montreal. This allowed the creative couple to tour the world experiencing different cultures, people and music. Shortly after their dance careers. Peter also transitioned to musical acting, landing roles such as Mamma Mia on Broadway. 

As a result of all his parent’s experiences Velvet grew up in a house full of different music. Kanoa fell in love with genres of sounds from 80s pop, classic rock, blues, dance and even acoustic music. 

In 2013, Kanoa moved to Guelph, Ontario, Canada to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Kinetics at the University of Guelph. During his time there, time away from home and his family led him towards the wrong crowds. These unfortunate times led to battles with depression and substance abuse, and even run-ins with the law. Velvet became isolated from the world but it was the love and support of his family that allowed him to pick himself up. 

In 2020, Kanoa became sober and put his time and energy into something he’s always loved, music. And thus, Velvet K.O. was born as a way to channel his energy into something positive and serve as a voice for those suffering in silence. 

Velvet is said to be melodically fluent and is constantly naming Travis Scott, Don Toliver and Juice WRLD as his biggest inspirations. His pop sensibility wraps perfectly around his emotional 
undertones. His name comes from the duality in personas. 

“I’m a smooth-like-Cognac lover boy who can ignite like a white hot explosion at the snap of a threat type of guy.” Velvet explains. 

The raspy tone of Velvet vividly paints the picture of his experiences with substance abuse and depression while beautifully depicting the frantic state of a passionate poet. In 2022, Velvet joined the Emtee Music Group where he now continues working on his future singles and projects.
