For this month's podcast, we welcome Tangerine, producer, live act and DJ based in Naarm (Melbourne, Australia). She released her debut EP First Breath late last year, a contemporary variation on her love for trance, IDM, deep techno and ambient. This mix similarly features the broad range of genres and emotions that she takes inspiration from; combining the soft with the gritty, the harmonious with the distorted, and embracing the beauty of contradiction! For the next Far Blue concept, we have the second live set that has been carefully crafted by Project Indigo's Pango. Inspired by an unclear horizon, with the shades of the blue sky and sea blending, it starts out with feelings of some kind of uncertainty, and later moves on towards more comforting, settled harmonies, much like when the mist clears and the mood is restored.

'I isolated myself in my home studio over two weekends, so I could get lost in Far Blue’s theme. While making the set I always pictured the colour gradient of a faded unclear horizon. I liked the mystery and the disorientation of the idea, yet at the same time the component of water also gave me something more tangible that I could relate better to sound. Through the process of making the set, I couldn't help picturing the mental image being sunnier every time, until it pretty much became a nice day at the beach, where the horizon was quite obvious.'

A Far Blue concept by Pango (live) - 'Lost & Found'

Welcome to a brand new chapter of Deep Electronics. The serie brings you a diversity into the abyss of deep electronic music. This week  XÂRTE makes his debut here on the channel.  A blend of deep electronic music. Starting with smooth breaks and atmospheres building up in layers of sound into a more hypnotic state of music. So enjoy.

Bio:
In the end of 2020, a new journey began for him. It all started with a love for electronic  music, specifically techno, that he discovered during a summer filled with music. As the days  went by, his passion for techno grew stronger, and he found himself spending more and  more time listening to it.
A friend of his, who was already playing, inspired him to take his interest to the next level. He started practicing and experimenting with mixing, and soon after, he began posting his  sets online. His talent did not go unnoticed, and he was given the opportunity to perform at  a local bar. There, he honed his skills and style, which eventually led him to perform at  venues like BASIS and The Melkweg. He is known for his unique style that blend hypnotic sounds and deep patterns to create a  completely new groove. His recognizable approach involves laying down multiple tracks at  the same time, resulting in a hypnotic and emotive experience that leaves the crowd  wanting more. With the goal of creating unity on the dancefloor, he wants to transport his audience into a  world where they can forget about the daily struggles of life and just be present in the 
moment. His music takes listeners on a journey full of emotions and abstract textures,  inviting them to drift off and get lost in the music.

2024 has been full of these emotions.

Confusion - Exploration - Re-Discovery

Being absent, removed by many kilometres and time zones, has felt strange in a year of such substantial change. Important milestones, devastating loss, moments of astounding joy, all experienced through a veil of isolation. 

Missing loved ones back home and abroad, whilst making life-long friendships and enduring memories in a new home is an interesting feeling. To simultaneously feel so accepted and cared for in new ventures, whilst desperately longing for the known, leads to confusion and contradicting emotions. 

Since moving to the UK, I have consumed more music than ever before. However, in the turbulence of living abroad, I have never felt more disconnected from music and how I want to present it. Something that is so creative and enjoyable, revealing of one's current sense of self, has never felt more intimidating. Confidence is key, and it has been something I have struggled with during this period. 

In this 2hr mix, recorded on a rainy and cold Saturday afternoon in London, I move away from my usual techno offering. I have been sitting on this collection of music for the better part of a year and a half. The music presented in this mix marks the wide variety of emotions felt during this time. 

The way in which we connect with music is often different, moments where I aim to convey sadness may elicit feelings of joy, but this is where the beauty of music lies; the individuality of self-expression, and connection. 

This is not a moment of self-pity, but rather a step towards a positive future. I have learned a lot about myself, and in truth, about music, in these two years.

I hope in listening to this mix, you are supported to reflect on what 2024 has meant to you. 

Expect low-slung grooves, contemplative vocals, and dubbed out minimal loops.
