Fifteen years is a long time in any art form, but with the dizzy forward push of modern club music, it seems especially long. Several times the career stamina of average talents, it's a good moment to reassess accomplishments, especially for someone whose past includes brushes near pop star status and collaborations with some of the biggest names in dance music. Thus, after fifteen years and a break to build a family, Dave the Hustler returns to relaunch Paparazzi Records by revisiting classic tracks with remixes from friends Dachshund, Lad, and Julien Bracht.

In this context, Dave and Evil C's 1998 original "Get Up" has withstood the test of time particularly well. The taut, minimalist, chugging rhythm would come to be called tech-house but had not then been so named, while elsewhere funkier touches and hints of dub slot it in favorably with many 2013 deep house tracks. 

Frankfurt's Bracht melds the modern affinity for techno industrialisms with the original's more gentle aspects, resulting in a smart rhythm track imbued with subtlety and poignancy. 

True to its title, Dachshund's "No BS Mix" is all about the dancefloor; it incorporates many elements of the original but employs them in its own muscular fashion with emphasis on building, filtered samples and shifting drum programs. Fellow Geneva producer and Caduceus Records label head Lad turns in a transformative remix that begins with heads-down intent and gradually adds layers of nastiness and psychedelia as it charges inexorably towards its dramatic finish.

For a digital bonus, Dave returns to '90s deep house roots with a devotional remix that lands closer to New York than Chicago; old school in a way the original is not, it's a fitting tribute for a producer revisiting his and his genre's past.

 “People are Strange” is Nima’s blend of smooth deep emotional house it’s guided by wonderfully atmospheric pads, key stabs, and synth accents with reverberating deep house strings cutting through the layers of the percussion. The deep chords compliments the package with his vision, commanding deep house vibes out of otherwise minimal tech house elements. “They don’t Know” is his minimal tech house take on more is better, this track has increasing energy and more up tempo swing as a result of the twisted laser sounding stabs and keys. The deep techy hook keeps the intensity building as Nima adds dramatic string orchestration amongst other minor touches that make all the difference in this tech house sound. “I don’t Know” hits that lovely warm old school deep tech vibe with hypnotic melting keys and a more rounded growling bass. The soft tucked vocals playfully take the listener on a deep vibe with very lovely atmospheric strings and space warming pads. This tune should find itself at home at beach bars, terraces, and afterhours with party season in full swing. “I don’t Know Mancini remix” is a wicked deep tech house vibe, this remix blossoms Nima’s original into a punchier heavy percussion harmony. A bass shaking techy sound with playful Rhodes, add in a twisted version of Nima’s keys and percussive claps adding an extra touch of rhythm. “I don’t Know Lo remix” This is a dark thug nasty warehouse vibe with a dark creepy bass line that will rip through you. Lo comes in with a ear tuning pad that leads to a monster syth running through the track with Nima’s twisted strings and the chopped vocal snips its a scary drifting transparent tone. The melodic stabs with the low end frequencies in his remix add a tense building techno loop at times, then finishes off with some acid line effects for dessert. You all are in for a treat with this ep.
