What do you get when you take 2 people who share a love for Italo Disco, EBM, synths and the movie Tron? We're not totally sure but that's what the basis of Chris Massey and Elliott Lion (of the acclaimed British band "Editors") came up with under the 'ISO City' guise and we're frothing like mad to drop this 2 tracker which absolutely slaps like crazy!

Light Cycle revs like crazy with a snarling arp bass line atop pounding tom drums and snappy percussion right before a laser blasting synth line explodes into your frontal lobe and releases warp factor endorphins all over your brain! Imagine a cosmic rave aboard The Death Star with everyone doing that dance off Buck Rogers whilst tripping off Romulan wine and you're halfway there. Serious epic soundscape.

Master Control Programme continues the throbbing arp line action and goes into an altogether deeper cosmic zone with some cold wave-esque buzzy synth lines which lead way to the kind of synth stabs that make John Carpenter's Halloween theme sound like something for sunsets at Mambo. Hooky and hypnotic as heck.with a belly full of mushrooms and a rush of dopamine this one could well & truly send you into the outer reaches of the cosmos. Strap in!

Beatservice Records offer up something rather special this time out, with Flash Atkins arriving on the label with no less than three remixes of Third Attempt's 'Keep Your Head Up'.

Producer Flash Atkins should need little in the way of introduction, the Manchester-based artist having served up countless dancefloor moments over the years - most often on the legendary Paper Recordings. He's known for crafting glittering, disco-centric sounds, and has worked with the likes of Kathy Diamond, Leilani, George Demure, and Danielle Moore among others.

Here, he delivers typically refined versions of 'Keep Your Head Up' from label regular, Third Attempt, a track lifted from last year's brilliant 'Momentary Bliss' album. The main remix toughens up the drums to add a little more thrust to the dreamy instrumentation, with spacey overdubs and staccato synths adding a gently psychedelic quality to the memorable strings and piano licks of the original.

The 'Dub' version strips back the orchestration to allow the rhythm to take centre stage as a distorted riff carries the groove across a floor-focused arrangement - a hypnotic motif that carries through to the gorgeously atmospheric 'Reprise' mix, where the drums give way to the celestial harmonics and evocative vocal textures.

Three magnificent interpretations, each of which is primed to enhance various shades of musical mood - from the main room to the back room and far, far beyond.

Massey is very much an integral stalwart of Manchester’s underground electronic music scene where he is immersed in music on a daily basis and juggles multiple roles from producer, engineer, remixer, promoter, booker, programmer, radio host, A&R & tea boy (obvs).

He runs his own label Sprechen and oversees an A&R/label manager role for the legendary Paper Recordings as well being a resident at Manchester’s Sticky Heat alongside running a whole manner of club, music & arts related events via Sprechen.

His DJ sets jump genres from house to disco, Italo, ‘jolly techno’ to boogie & ‘weird
Stuff’ alongside his own productions & remixes which have entertained dancers
at gatherings not only at clubs and festivals in the UK, but also across across
Europe at the likes of Barbarellas Discotheque & for Frekuensi Minor in
Jakarta. 

He has DJ'd alongside the likes of Lindstrøm, Optima, Cynthia, Justin Robertson,
Nancy Noise, Rex the Dog, Horse Meat Disco, Hifi Sean, Raw Silk &
Awesome Tapes From Africa and Sean Johnston/Hardway Bros at the seminal night ALFOS which Sprechen promotes in Manchester.

More recently her has developed Sprechen into being more than just a record
label and to be more a hub to nurture new & emerging creatives and where he
can assist and mentor in the final mix & engineering stage of music
production. 

His latest venture has been 'The Thief Of Time', a cross genre studio project which focuses on music away from the clubs and is heavily influenced by a life lived through the 80's with sounds, stylings, aesthetics & narratives all taking place in the semi autobiographical productions.

“For the Feincast I wanted to try and focus on an sounds that are very much in my sets when playing the late set at any Sticky Heat parties as well as at ALFOS but which are also quite easily linked to my sound as The Thief Of Time. Let The People In! Mixtape #11 - Massey

Leeds' finest is back on Paper with an EP showing off his chops as a producer on his uppers backed up by two remixes that have gone for the jugular and got a clean bite.

The original is an 80s influenced deep houser that will sound equally at home on a beach at sunset in the adriatic, bass quaking a festival rig or on a European motorway at 3am.  With synth washes and a filtered riff it hypotises it's way to a state of balearic dancefloor heaven.

Renata takes it's pointers from the mid-90s with a pad bringing to mind a time when acid house was getting it's feet under the table.  Add a big synth lead, stabby bass, strings and the spirit of the Beloved and Sub Sub is summoned up for the 00s.

In a game of two halves (Brian) Flash Atkins' mix is all about the build.  The deep and techy first section rides the one note bass and filtered synth with added Moog.  It's a steady reach for the break when things get kicked loose as the track is taken down to it's raw elements.  The bass changes and things are built back up synth by synth.  Once it reaches it's peak, take cover or you're liable to get injured in the maelstrom.
