It's winter in Brazil, but the sounds from Gop Towers Vol. 4 are quite warm. Keeping the tradition of our last compilations, we invited Joutro Mundo from Rio de Janeiro to complete the team with his "Who Do You Love". The other 3 tracks are business as usual... TYV takes The National to a walk around Doncaster for some acid-country flavors, Nascii brings another original gem with "Move With My Body", a floorfiller to smash the dancefloor, while Kurc turn Four Tet's pastoral take on Caribou's Melody Day into deeper beauty. Joutro Mundo - Who Do You Love

Naya Beat, which translates from Hindi as 'new beat', is focused on uncovering foundational electronic sounds from the subcontinent and South Asian diaspora through reissues, remixes and compilations. 

It found quick success with its first release, 'Naya Beat Volume 1: South Asian Dance and Electronic Music 1983 - 1992', followed by a rare 1985 Hindi New Wave album by Pinky Ann Rihal. 

The label now offers up the first of two releases based around the music of cosmic disco pioneer, Studio 54 icon and jazz improviser Asha Puthli, an artist who has recorded, sung or shared the stage with the likes of Roy Ayers, Alice Coltrane, Grace Jones, Barry White, Andy Warhol and many more. From David Mancuso's The Loft, to Giorgio Moroder's early work with Donna Summer, to hip-hop where she has been sampled extensively, Asha's musical influence and impact is profound. 
She was the first artist of South Asian descent to successfully crossover and make a mark on dance, jazz and pop culture in the West.

For this LP, Naya Beat tracked down the long mythologised original stems and recordings of Puthli's most seminal albums, including ‘The Devil is Loose’, and working closely with Asha, they have tasked a series of producers inspired by her work to remix her music.

Label heads Turbotito & Ragz flip 'One Night Affair' into a leggy disco celebration with sweeping synths and bright effects.

This is a stunning collection of remixes that pay homage to the originals while taking them into new sonic territory. A series of single drops will precede the whole LP; Yuksek (21st July), Maurice Fulton (4th August), Turbotito & Ragz (18th August), Psychemagik (1st September), Kraak & Smaak (15th September), Jitwam + LP (22nd September).

The most prolific music maker in the UK (trust us, it’s a fact!) is back at Paper with another serious selection of chopped up & rearranged slices of dance music. Edits is such a yawn these days but when they’re done properly (and we mean properly) they come out sounding like this insanely good E.P.

Title track is a Summer infused drop of feel good house music with bags of soul & swag that will fit perfect into any warm up set & will guarantee back slaps & big grins a plenty!

Bet It’s a Groove sounds like a lost track from an educational film of the late 70’s with bleeps & bloops straight out of a Moog. Bags of psychedelic flavours for the more whacky party settings (which we all love!)

P=funk flavours ahoy on Leroy. Full on synth workout with funky as heck guitars around some mayhem sounding synths & spaced out stabs. Imagine a breakdance party with added mushrooms and you’re half way there.

Things slow down for Shivery which is a real woozy number and harks back to sounds of Lemon Jelly at their most psych. Real nice one for all those lucky enough to hold a beachside residency in hotter climates though can sound equally as good at home whilst blazing a zoot or having a cup of tea.

Work It closes off the party and is a solid slab of ‘end of the night’ vibes with a nod to Sabres Of Paradise sounding loveliness. Throbbing bassline & arp action with various mad sounds all building & building towards the lights coming on. Great finish….see you next week!
