Drum & bass stalwarts Black Sun Empire are to follow up a trio of recent EPs from The Upbeats, Neonlight and Pythius with the release of ‘Until The World Ends’ - a five-track, collaborative EP with NZ duo State Of Mind. Lead single ‘Ego’ will be released on 7th December via their genre-defining Blackout imprint, drawing an end to a prolific 2014 for the label. 

‘Ego’ immediately sets the tone for the rest of the EP, with growling bass lines and punchy synth-stabs underpining dark, techy atmospherics and vocal loops. Skittering melodics then give way to signature frenetic beats and firing drums to round off proceedings in style.

Blackout have built a reputation for curating their own brand of dark, neurofunk-inspired drum & bass over the past 12 months and this collaboration with long-term collaborators State Of Mind - who released their latest album ‘Eat The Rich’ via Blackout earlier this year - feeds into the hype already surrounding the label moving into 2015.

Hailing from France, Darj presents a selection of murky, organic, and heavyweight tunes with definite middle eastern flavor and dub influence.  The title track, Ka'Andirah, is full of ethnic percussion and starts with a dreary soundscape highlighted by a reverberant middle eastern style vocal that transports the listener to an ancient past.  Substantial bass, and dynamic rhythms give the sound system a workout pushing you into the future.  Red Crypt continues with the ancient vibe, but adds a relentless sub-bass to keep the dance moving.  Envenom & Seamless Whole push the listener even further into the deep, dark depths of Darj's production. In the year 2015 the name Quaed will not only be known from a certain Sci Fi picture but also in today’s modern Drum & Bass scene.  Having just come off the back of a great release with Stealth, titled, The Passenger on Program, we thought we would snap up a single from this new talent in the form of R.E.M / The Law.

R.E.M, otherwise known as Rapid Eye Movement, is a masterpiece conjured up from Quaed’s subconscious mind. Kicking things off with a pallet of dreamy sounds in the intro, R.E.M gradually manifests into a dark little number with its intense break down of mid bass followed up with an eerie drop, which leads to a wave of devastating drums, subs and synthesized keys…Sweet dreams!  

The flip is ‘The Law’ according to Quaed. Vocal stabs accompany what only can be described as lush pads in the intro. As the beats start to filter in we are left with a superb drop of oozing bass, snappy & tight drums with an all round quality vibe!

Following the hugely successful debut of our ‘Dispatch Dubplate’ label, with the first two vinyl releases selling out across all stores, we're proud to welcome #3 in the series, led predominantly by label favourite DLR. Much like the previous Dubplates, each vinyl will showcase a thicker set 180 grams in weight, hand numbered (1 – 300), hand-stamped, signed, with an added label sticker pack with all 300; never to be re-pressed.

Setting off the release, we're pleased to release our most in-demand dub from the past year; the mighty Break & DLR rework everyone has waited for – “Murmur VIP”. With the original first appearing in 2012 on Octane & DLR's “Method In The Madness” album, the Break & DLR VIP has revitalized the initial buzz of an already popular track, in spectacular fashion. Causing havoc on dancefloors worldwide, it has already seen heavy rotational support by Friction on his BBC Radio 1 show (with 6 plays on the show in total to date).

In addition, we present a new, original track from DLR; the immaculately detailed “Regeneration”. This drops us right back to the late 90s with a cosmic vibe that pays homage to the Virus / Konflict era, brought right up to date. Although delivered in a superbly tight, modern construct, it never loses its old school essence and authenticity. This release features two versions of the track, the “Generated Mix” is exclusive to the vinyl format, whilst the gnarly “Metamorphosis Mix” also features as a digital only bonus, both offering a very different take on a track that (in its original form) was never planned or set to surface, so we felt it fitting for this to appear on the Dispatch Dubplate label.

Completing the Dubplate comes the second re-work of the release, as “Tugboat” receives the remix treatment, with “The Moneyshot VIP” appearing on both vinyl and digital formats. A new take on DLR’s solo Dispatch single from 2013, the VIP is nothing short of a huge re-work and a complete re-invention of the original, taking a much more stepping dance floor approach from start to finish.

This release features a vinyl only track “Regeneration (Generated Mix)”. This will not be available in digital format at all. Vinyl buyers will be able to download all the other tracks, however this dubplate exclusive mix will never be available in any other format.

Each vinyl purchase will receive free 320kbps mp3 & wav files of all the available digital tracks. These will only become available to download on the Friday before general release and no sooner – this is the 20th of March as general release date is the 23rd March.

Featuring some of the most exciting talents in drum & bass, each of the six remixes here offer a sizzling new slant on three of the album’s biggest tracks. All armed with their own character and uncompromising dynamics, it’s a challenge deciding which one to drop first…

‘All Is Lost’ starts the set with the perfect balance of emotional sonic star-gazing and gritty bottom-end welly. With stunning hymn-like vocals from Thomas Oliver and hype-hungry attitude from Youthstar, it’s widely regarded as one of the album’s boldest highlights. Naturally both Memtrix and Telekinesis have stepped up to the massive challenge. 

Lifted fave Memtrix goes first. Opening with teases of the original’s euphoric synths, he lets the vocals breath for one second before BANG: utter bassline sickness takes over. Complete sonic bombardment of the senses, there is no mistaking Memtrix’s direction and focus for this prime-time piece of D&B naughtiness. Next up, ‘Dawn Of A Dark Day’: A blazing unity of UK grime and Euro neuro, the day Black Sun Empire called up the Foreign Beggars for mic-duties was a game-changing day for the entire bass industry. Naturally both remixes pay respect to the fusion and fire of the original. Prolix takes the original’s swaggering halfstep intro and adds a touch more menace on the low-end and an industrial punch to the beats before dropping into a rampant, rolling speaker-smasher. No face will be left unmelted when you drop this. We guarantee it. Meanwhile Receptor adds his own interpretation with an instant uptempo kickstart and the creative use of drama-drenched cinematic strings and devilish Slayer-level guitars.  

‘Killing The Light’ brings us to a fitting climax with two of drum & bass most distinctive, forward-thinking acts on remix duties. Delicately dressed with the heart-melting vocals of Inne Eysermans, the raw emotion makes ‘Killing The Light’ the closest thing to a ballad Black Sun Empire will ever write. Paying respect to this, Icicle sharpens the kicks and snares, weaves haunting pads into the mix and takes the vocal to the darkest place imaginable. For those looking for more of a laser-snapping edge, look no further than June Miller’s remix; bolstered with a gargantuan bassline and searing sonic flares, the Dutch-Anglo duo have taken the softness and depth of the original and subverted into a priceless peaktime banger that NO D&B DJ should be without this season.
