The next instalment from the Yamatai 2025 Catalogue is finally here and it is a special one....

We are over the moon to finally announce DKN's debut release on Yamatai 'Distorted Reality / Ritual' featuring legend in the game Stanza. Not only is this a debut from the Brighton based producer but it us also an official announcement of Deen becoming a core artist within the label.

This perfect debut brings 2 heavy club anthems already causing chaos across Europe and beyond, supported by some of the genres biggest names.

We first met Deen back in December 2020 when he featured on the Subtitles takeover at Studio 808, already fans we kicked it off and he spoke about his forthcoming album / projects and he showed them to us and we were blown away by the sheer quality this man possessed in the DAW. Roll on 4 years and that same album has been released and what a piece of work it is. It's funny how the world works, someone we used to look up to and only dream of getting tracks from is now releasing his debut single on the label.

If you enjoy gritty and heavyweight drums paired with unholy in you face basslines then DKN is your man. Tracks that have a style similar to the classic RAM Records days, we are honoured to be releasing a single that highlights this forgotten style that we love so dearly.

Dean Rodell and Current Value blend drum & bass, techno and ‘machine step’ into their Machine Code alias, and are proud to present their new Projection release. With over two decades’ worth of experience between them, Dean and Value operate their own Subdivision Studio in Berlin, blasting out hit after hit across the d&b, dubstep and techno genres, and beyond. The title cut busts and blasts its way into existence, strange samples leading the way. Insistent, futuristic beats slide over the top, setting you up for something big. The track moves through a range of levels, as the producers open up more and more, accessing new sounds and emotions. This is serious, cutting edge music, and a fantastic start to the EP. 

The Germ follows suit, with deep bass already obvious in the intro, before all hell breaks loose at the drop. Twisted, twisting samples and effects pour themselves in and out of the mix, as a haunting melody line turns and shifts, rising and falling. Shining and shimmering, don’t lose the real meaning of this one - it’s a killer.
Infiltrating is the first track on Side B. This one builds up, levelling out with some explosive beats and equally enticing low end. 

Let the infection take over your being, as Dean Rodell and Current Value take
￼￼things to the next level. And closing things out is the Machine Code remix of Artificial Organism by Homeboy. Here, the track opens with electronic flashes, a ticking beat and a steady sense of anticipation. This is paid off by a fantastic drop, after which the true genius of the remix is slowly uncovered, via a spine chilling breakdown and rebuild.

Not for the faint-hearted, Projection is serious. A must-have.

For our fifth instalment, we are proud to introduce Spanish brothers Picota & Kumbh to the Axon Family. 

The B-side is entitled ‘Stiff’. Continuing musical themes from the title track, combined with an increase in energy, this piece of music holds no punches. Swung rhythms juxtapose an energetic bassline, the combination of which end in an impressive result.

PAPERFUNK RECORDINGS – is a dark drum&bass label which sound will be based on the hard and metallic techstep and neurofunk sound. There’s no place for popular sound. The label’s main goal is to flood cities and towns with the special mixtures containing nano-robots that supposed to get inside people’s brains and plunge them down in the deepest adolescent memories and show them the unrealized future. The hardness of the mix, the steel of the drums, the oil of the bass and the rust of the effects – are the main and crucial keywords of the PAPERFUNK label.
