He’s an artist who has been working with Shogun Audio for a long time, but it really does feel like Linguistics is a breath of fresh air for the drum and bass scene right now. Maybe it’s that youthful appearance that never seems to change, but it’s more likely the fact that Linguistics is currently embarking on a fresh chapter in his music career as a recording artist.

For too long, MCs and vocalists have been seen as a side act to the producer, but especially of late, we’re seeing lyricists from all walks of D&B showing everyone they’re much more than this. Linguistics has been on the frontline for years battling to demonstrate this – and his string of 2021 singles on Shogun has signalled the start of a new venture where Linguistics curates his own productions alongside familiar label faces. From “Our Time” with Document One to “Searching For” with GLXY and Charlie Perry to “Change” with Dogger & Mindstate most recently. We’re pleased to unveil the next instalment in the series, which sees Linguistics team up with Monrroe on “Eyes Shut”.

Attention! New prototypes have matured in their capsules and are ready to be tested in tracks. After highlighting the necessary DNA sequences for the PPRFNK collective and the teaching staff of the Neuropunk Academy, we proudly present a unique strain of neurofunk and neurotech rhythms — the release titled "PROTOTYPES LP vol. 2", the continuation of the large-scale experiment born within the walls of Neuropunk Academy.

This release from Paperfunk Recordings encapsulates the invaluable experience gained by students and brought to life under the mentorship of NERV3, a seasoned producer who has already made waves with his releases on PPRFNK, Neuropunk, and many other labels. Under his guidance, 14 students progressed from their first synthesis attempts to creating truly groundbreaking tracks capable of transforming the perception of drum and bass music.

What awaits you in "PROTOTYPES LP vol. 2":
Bass structures, forged within the confines of students' skulls.
Rhythmic patterns, combining the innocence of a beginner with the bold ideas of someone diving deep into the world of production.
Technical convulsions — some tracks, both in arrangement and sound pressure, hint at the authors' wild imagination. At these moments, the map of their brain's electric currents probably goes off the charts.
"PROTOTYPES VOL. 2" is a collection of entirely different perspectives on drum and bass music, not necessarily conforming to any established canons. It provides a fresh take on various facets of subgenres. The most important thing to remember is that for many of the authors, this is their first release ever.

PAPERFUNK RECORDINGS – is a dark drum&bass label which sound will be based on the hard and metallic techstep and neurofunk sound. There’s no place for popular sound. The label’s main goal is to flood cities and towns with the special mixtures containing nano-robots that supposed to get inside people’s brains and plunge them down in the deepest adolescent memories and show them the unrealized future. The hardness of the mix, the steel of the drums, the oil of the bass and the rust of the effects – are the main and crucial keywords of the PAPERFUNK label.
