Mathew Jonson presents Freedom Engine live at SGP 2023

For this instalment of the Rhythmic Culture podcast, we're excited to welcome the Canadian producer Mathew Jonson on the series. Whilst essentially a house and techno producer, Jonson has also been involved in many crossover projects including Cobblestone Jazz, Midnight Operator and the Modern Deep Left Quartet. For this instalment, Mathew presents a live recording of his project Freedom Engine at SGP 2023. 

"The recording is a mix of live improvisation via synthesizers and drum machines and tracks played from a DAW. Instruments from Roland (SH-101, TR-8S, SH-01A, T-8, and Demora), Elektron (Machinedrum), Midas (V240), and TC-Electronic (various effects) were used in the performance. 

The set also includes partial tracks and jams written and produced by Units and Measurements, Mathew Jonson, Plaid (MJ Remix of "Dragon Chase"), and Freedom Engine in collaboration with Magda."

Busy and exciting times for Ed Davenport, whom some of you will also know under his alias Inland. 

As Ed Davenport, he released a new EP with a trio of gleaming, house orientated tracks on our very own Muallem's Childhood imprint titled > PLACE OF CONNECT PT.1 < and he recorded a new mix for our Blitzcast series, brimming with the estival vibes he's been spreading at the gigs he played this summer. And now Ed is back for our upcoming Cruise event on Saturday, the 14th of October, for a special back to back with Muallem - a world premiere, too! - alongside the likes of Bambounou, Partok, u.r.trax and many more.
