ever since @musicbyflaws released his song 'its getting dark' i just fell in love with it. and making a cover of it just felt right. 
i worked on it for several months trying all sorts of this and at last i landed on this final version. its something that keeps the feel of the original but still sounds like me. 
as flaws said "its like listening to my song through your ears" which i think is perfectly put. 
thank you to @bitbird for making me able to release this on all platforms too.

i began writing "to feel alive" on the 23rd of january 2021. i wanted to write something more danceable and influenced by genres like synthpop and indie pop. i started to structure out the song then was introduced to scarlet bishop, an insanely talented saxophonist and sibling of one of my best friends. i sent them the song and they sent back audio files of them playing the saxophone and my mind was blown. we added the saxophone to the song and the instrumental was complete. all the song needed was vocals.

we went through many vocalists, asking many out of the realm of the underground edm scene, unfortunately to no avail. i then had the idea of asking another really good friend benana who nearly instantly returned with some of the most catchy vocals i've ever heard. i instantly fell in love and pushed for the song to be released as soon as possible out of sheer excitement.

the initial theme of the song was the repetitive nature of life. having to do the same tasks everyday, with each day feeling the exact same. benana brought his own flare to the song, bringing emotionally-driven and catchy vocals, completing the song.

this is one of my favourite songs i have ever been a part of, and cannot thank scarlet bishop and benana for their contributions. at the time of writing this song i was in a creative block and also felt blunted generally and little pleasure from things. working with these two insanely talented individuals brought a breath of fresh air to my music and life as a whole.
