If 2019 album ‘Mahur Club’ served as an introduction to Maral’s “folk club” sound, a third full-length Leaving Records release finds the formula at its most refined. 

Heavy on feedback while drawing from an extensive library of Iranian folk, classical and pop recordings, the LA-based Iranian-American producer transcends reference points and any binaries of 'self' across 11 tracks. In fact, ‘Ground Groove’ finds Maral assuming the role of ethnomusicologist. 

Anchoring samples of Persian folk around crankily dubbed-out and punk-leaning abstraction, our premiere, ‘Mari’s Groove’, is a prime case in point.

'Ground Groove' is out October 18th on Leaving Records.

Pa.ʁa.di.(z) Aʁ.ti.fi.sjɛl is an alternative electronic music ensemble from Montréal formed by vocalist Odile Myrtil and musicians Ourielle Auvé & Victor Bongiovanni. Their eponymous self-titled album showcases a raw proposition of existential fragility. It expresses a perception of vulnerability and sacredness through a sonic palette of experimental music, post-punk and pop.
